RE: Thea For SketchUp 1.0 (Preview video)
Can someone tell me if Thea is faster then the Maxwell renderer? I bought Maxwell but its rendertimes are prehestoric (compared with C4d).
Thanks!!

RE: Cocoon facade structures....
Hi Pilou, you are totally right, I'm using Cinema4D besides SU, but I prefer to do everything in SU. SU is, in my opinion they best (and only) intuitive modelling/design tool...So as far I can create it with SU I prefer that!

RE: Cocoon facade structures....
Sorry I went to bed....But wow!! I think it's fixed...And yes, the segment that has to be repeated(the slice) must be perfect. And the you bend it twice with Shapebender. Last night I was thinking about a plugin that would be groundbreaking. Like Component sprayer, but then you fill or project "surfaces" with components so you can make complex structures with repetitive elements. As being an architect I always have to deal with the actual realization and these organic forms are hard to realize. But when you design repeating shapes it's another story. That's why I mentionned the fact the Shapebender adds line to the elements, that's okay to shape things but for realization it's hard to sell...
Nevertheless this method still makes it possible...the arc-element where you project the segment on must be segmented equally and then it should work!!...there's more in SU...pfveeewww!!!

In fact something like Round corner + Shape Bender

Hi Pilou...I tried this to, and that is still an option. Shapebender does the job, but it also changes the components to groups, so they all change(hard to explain but they're getting mixed up). What I tried is to bend it first in height and then to tue onion shape...but you must do this extremely precise...it doesn't work that well to come to workable output.

Maybe a precise drawing curves sections with the Extrude Edges by rail can make the trick for one module!
... We're coming close..but it still doesn't do the "trick"....It's hard....

Haha nice work Tig!!! mmm okay that's a great suggestion, I've never tried LatticeMaker....And yes Numbthumb, it must be done with a little help of Artisan....But still it is a hell to model...

Cocoon facade structures....
Dear Sketch-Uppers,
I'm Sketch-upping for quite some years now, and I'm using alot of plugins, but I found a shape in a magazine which I think, is hardly to model in SU. Offcourse, everthing can be modelled, but this one is, I think, a real pain in the....The "Cocoon" is designed by POHL architects and is build with all individual panels(groups/components). What I really really really like to know if there is a method or plugin that can handle/project, components to shapes so that you can maken these kind of shaped structures....Does anyone has a suggestion, is this possible with SU?
Thanks!!!!

RE: [Plugin][$] FredoScale - v3.6a - 01 Apr 24
Hi SU-pers!
I've a little question and it's probably asked before. But I can't find it in this forum nor an answer in the manual. I want to scale a box(for instance) with the FredoScale-tool, and I want to scale that from the Centre (with the ctrl-key) and then input(TAB) ONLY the width(along the red axis). But this seems to be not possible without a length-input...It's hard to explain....But I only want to have one dimension fixed while scaling the object proportionally around its centre.
How can this been done, does anyone know that?
Thanks in advance!

RE: Render Settings Maxwell Render Stand Alone
...I'll see...but I think they will have to act fast. I've worked with it now for a few days and the UI is great, works like a charm within SU. This actually could be an unbeatable workflow, BUT I still think, after have read all the pro's of Maxwell, the speed is disastrous. I really hope the will solve this soon...

RE: Render Settings Maxwell Render Stand Alone
Wow Jason!
Great!!! It's also great to see the difference between the sl-20 and sl-12 render. I'm "glad" to see that is is indeed quit slow... I also don't have a state of the art processor (I7 950) so I hope this will go much faster when I buy a new one.
It's actually very handy to have different renders with different SL-values, so you can easily see which suit you most! But 3hours to make a render? I usually need 8 or 10 renders in my presentation....You can look on our site http://www.qupix.nl to see my renders. I always completely model them in SU and export them to C4D.
Well Jason, again thanks for your effort!

RE: Render Settings Maxwell Render Stand Alone
Hey Jason!
Thanks for your answer! But I think the global illumination in C4D has an comparable quality and is much faster...I was getting tired of the model-exchange between c4D en Sketchup en this seemed to be the solution. Okay, well....But how long does it take for you to make a full hd visual with Maxwell?

...hahaha...yeah I'm glad I didn't! But why can't life be perfect at last?!

RE: Render Settings Maxwell Render Stand Alone
Okay here we go! Attached to this post there's a render which has a resolution of 800x600. I've rendered this scene with SL on 12 and took 8 minutes! An image with this quality I normally render with Cinema4d in a minute or less...I can't believe that Maxwell is so antique. It's also still so grainy!
Don't middenstander me...I love the way Maxwell is integrated in SU, it's the first render-plugin that does the job well in case of the UI...but the speed is unacceptable..
forget my frustration...sorry...It's probably my dissapointment...
I'm so curious how fast you render this!!

Hey Jason,
That's very kind of you and I understand what you mean, but I can't give you this model (case sensitive)...shall I make a test-setup?
