Well the model is a stand wich I just loaded and I only use the default settings....Within the renderer I turned on 8 threads. The attached image took 40 minutes with a SL-12(!) setting.
And as you can see I don't use any effect or whatsoever...

Actually I haven't done anything with the materials...no emitters/reflection/bump or anything...just a plain render and a sky dome....mmmm...Man I'm dissapointed...I thought this would save me! 
What's your SL-setting for your finals?

I just bought/installed the stand-alone Maxwell plug-in for Sketchup, but it is sooooooooooooooooooooo slooooooowowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww......my goodness....I thought that it could only be soooooo slooooowwwwwww in the free version and that the "production" renderer would much faster. Does anyone has the same experience? At moment a 1000px with SL:12 is rendering a simple scene and it take houres!!!!!!! pffff

ps: I have an I7-core processor...
Okay now it works....but...sometimes is doesn't....can that be true? I mean I sometime mis a line on the draped surface so I don't get an intersected shape...
What a quick reply! I installed 1.4 and it works....okay now i'm going to install 1.5 back again!
mmmm....version 1.5 is not working properly. When I click the second group (the one to drape on) I hear a "bell"(windows error sound or something), and it doesn't do anything....
anyone that problem?

Aaaaaah...so only the names of TEXTURED materials will show up...mmm...well that means no improvement for me.......grrr....I could already see the linked texture-names in Cinema and the textures are clear to me wich material it is....well...

Hey Gaius,
In Cinema4D I normally get "Material 1, Material 2, etc" instead of the material names I use in SketchUp. When I use the collada-plugin (file > export collada with material names) it really doesn't export it with the material names. I'm working with Windows and version 8...mmm

mmm....the love is over.....it doesn't do anything! Is it working? I'm importing the Collada-file into Cinema4d but I just got the "normal" material names......

My drivers are up to date...and I think/know CS5 is working "crappy"...and I don't notice spectacular differences with my fx1800 card...that's why I'm wondering what I should do!

It's strange and it's a bit confusing, but I think the Fermi architecture play a very important role in this. But nevertheless, the numbers, in the Sketchup test, are strange. I thought I've bought a high-end card that would blow away all those Geforce game rubbish....not....
