      thank you. as for the wire.. did you noiced i attached the model itself? πŸ˜›
      that's unfinished btw.. i was planning to finish it in zbrush some day.. it was intended for that pupose.. ence the quick uv-mapping.. i would like to unwrap/polypaint it and maybe send back a low-poly version in sketchup.. don't ask me when πŸ˜’

      some "specific type of quads" - compatible with SUbD, or any other workflows... what does it means? What makes those quads compatible, as opposed to others?

      a quadface tools quad is a couple of triangle joined by an edge marked as diagonal. the quadface tools "tag" to mark a diagonal is that the edge should be set to soft AND smooth AND not cast shadow (you can check this in entity info window)

      Brilliant.

      And remember that many of Fredo's tools and my own Extrude... tools have for sometime allowed options to make thomthom's 'QuadFace' compatible meshes, so you won't always need to model your QuadFaces "from scratch"...

      thanks TIG i often use extrude by rails because of its quad capabilities and that is GREAT.
      if only fredo's Joint Push Pull could be "upgraded to quads" that would be the ultimate killer combo πŸ€“

      What would be the main differences between SUbD and Artisan? I am currently using Artisan and I am very curious where this new plugin would fit for me, or is just a matter of preference?

      Cheers!

      it's just a matter of quads πŸ˜‰

      Hi guys, could be easily used for rounding corners on the fly on a building? (A high creasing value? or a double line at corners?)

      i would say it's not intended for this kind of job.. use round corner instead..
      this is more a powerful organic modeling tool. πŸ‘

      @dave r said:

      Probably Jim's custom toolbars thing.

      yes sir, i can confirm they work the same i managed to export my custom toolbar 100% working across SU8/SU15/SU16 migration πŸ‘
      ~~but unfortunately i think if OP did'nt set Jim's custom toolbars in SU15 he may have nothing to copypaste in SU16.. πŸ˜•
      maybe still a good idea to be ready for SU17 ~~

      EDIT: i miss the post with the screenshot, so.. yes i can also confirm that: the buttons are from Jim's plugin.
      to migrate that successfully, you should copypaste (from '15 plugins folder to '16 plugin folder) the file toolbars.rb and the folder "toolbars"
      into the "toolbars" folder you can find the text files which actually control the toolbar creation/naming.

      hope this can help!

      mmm.. not sure what you are trying to achieve.. that's very bad topology.. πŸ˜•

      @cotty said:

      Why don't you use the good geometry (drop vertices) and apply the texture to it (e.g. thrupaint)?

      +1 on this.. i also would run quadface tools on it to mark out the diagonals of the pseudo-quads

    • RE: Locking A Raster Image

      TIP: if you are using an image as a reference, actually is NOT a good idea to explode it.. that's because if you explode an image you lose the ability to see and reference it when you are editing a group from INSIDE. i would reccomend to group the image itself instead of exploding it, and then lock this group.

      ADDITIONAL TIP: sketchup can't create a group out of a single element in selection. a workaround to group a single element (in this case your image) is to draw a temporary segment, group it with the face and then edit the group and erase the temp edge from inside.

      now you should have a single image grouped alone and you can lock it, but you can still reference it from inside another group.

      ADDITIONAL ADDITIONAL TIP: a variation of this tecnique can be used to properly scale a reference image. you need to draw the temp segment tracing a known-measure edge over the image so you can use the tape measure to scale it decently..

      hope this can be helpful.

      also take a look at "connect" tool from thomthom's quadface tools.. that gives you greater control on number/pinching/cornering of loops/topology!
