have you tried scaling a copy to see exactly what is lost?

RE: Model Unit swapper
Exactly.
Of course I can rescale the model correctly but I'd lose the camera and the scale of the textures (UV).
Every texture would have to be tweaked, sometimes in the material editor, sometimes in the meshes themselves (think bricks/mortar continuity along corners)...
So a script which would swap units would be ideal. -
RE: Model Unit swapper
I got skp.
So I need a tweak to swap m to cm.
No conversion. -
Model Unit swapper
Hello all !
I know this may sound stupid but is there a script that swaps the model units?
Example: I got a model in meters from my architect but the draughtman actually drew everything thinking he was in cm. So when I measure a staircase step I get 27m instead of 27cm.
Of course I could rescale the whole model but I lose the cams (scenes) and the UV maps are squeezed, so I have to explode every mesh and remap them all one by one... a terrible waste of time.Any idea would be welcome!

RE: [Plugin]Combin editor 0.08[2011.03.24] [TUTORIAL]
No SU 2015 version?
it's a pity... -
RE: Power Toolbar (2.5) - fix for 2019
1001 x thanks!
Since I updated to 2015, I was VERY frustrated the PTB wasn't working anymore...
Simple tools like extrudealongpath, pipealongpath, extrudelines, mirror, dropintersection, protrude were really essential in my workflow and crawling through the menus to find them was really a pain...
My brain is already overcrowded with shortcut keys of photoshop, 3dsmax, aftereffects, sketchup, etc. that I feel very relieved when sometimes there are simply but brilliantly designed icons to click on -

Can you try with Sketchup Make 2013 ?
Hello,
I will, once I get out of my stressing schedule.

RE: [Plugin] Layers Panel 1.2.1
Hello,
The idea of this script is excellent, something I kept asking AtLAst developpers for a long time (in the famous wishlist), and the material list manager as well (by giving users the ability to group materials by components, for example).
The thing is, the layer panel worked once, and the next time I launched SU8, it returned blank of layers, with the IE version is outdated message. I work with SU8, panel 0.5.2 on Vista 64 and IE9 (don't use IE anyway, but 9 is the last supported version by Vista).
Any clue? -
RE: [Plugin] Export 2d with Alpha
Hello Thom,
This script is very useful.
Now when you export a batch of cameras from SU it resets the output resolution to your default 800x600.
Is it possible to keep the last output resolution by default? (I mean, if I saved a PNG in 2000x1000, the next output will keep 2000x1000 instead of 800x600)...
Thanks anyway.Ryo

RE: SketchUP 8

This is pretty much a Google upgrade rather than a SketchUp upgrade with most of their headline changes revolving around GE.
Ive use SU since V2 and I use it daily. I got really really angry when @Last sold out and the prediction then was that it would pretty much become a GE tool....and we werent wrong!.
But these days Im no longer emotionally involved....and my expectations are quite low [and Google hasnt done anything to change this attitude]
You said it all
I'm a SU user since v2.1I remember the breakthrough of v3 with TRANSPARENCY and SMOOTH CURVES (Villa Savoye was the perfect showcase )
Sketchup 4 introduced the follow me tool, intersect with model, texture repositioning, and of course RUBY API!!!
Sketchup 5 and the sandbox, outliner, collision detection during walk, face me components, opacity maps for cutouts and mesh textures, mesh splitting during 3DS export (finally SU was able to export big meshes),...
Since SU 6 I lost all expectation for any useful tool for me but I'm really thankful to the Ruby plugins coders.
About the infamous shadowbug:
SU3 introduced a fix, called "Carmack's reverse" (John Carmack is the idsoftware genius programmer and guru behind Doom, Quake etc. but it seems that it was Nvidia's Sim Dietrich who found the fix: http://techreport.com/discussions.x/7113) which is patented by Creative. It was disregarded with the introduction of the new revamped 3D engine of SU4 for unknown reason (probably $$$) and never seen back.
To be able to produce "realtime" shadows, SU's 3D engine uses 3D techniques involving OpenGL but these are getting old and Google doesn't seem wanting to actualize them. So we are left with an aging 3D engine, unsolved shadow bug, un-optimized high polycount mesh support (ever seen the world of GTA4, Fallout3, Stalker, Crysis, Just Cause2?), no 64bit support, no "shader" materials (Blinn, Phong, Ward, etc. allowing shiny behaviours), etc.BUT I'm married to SU, I'll keep loving it forever (even if I'll have one-night adventures with, say, bonzai3D or modo or cinema4D or...) BECAUSE it's sooooo easy to use, my brain is addicted, I see the world like a combination of pushpulls/follow me/sandbox, so I guess I will have to live with that

RE: How to export georeferenced wrl from sketchup?
thanks for passing by
I've been told geo-wrml can support georeferencing data, but I'm not sure sketchup can output such a file format.
I just got DXF (supposed to contain georeference data but I haven't any soft supporting that so I can't be sure) and have been asked to export my model in wrl format WITH the supposed georeference data, in order to be imported in a big database under SupportGIS, a german version of GIS soft.
It's the first time I'm asked such a request so I'm a total newbie in this field... -
How to export georeferenced wrl from sketchup?
Hello all.
I already did a search on several forums but found nothing so far.
A client gave me a base DXF plan which is supposed to be georeferenced.
When I imported the file the drawings were very far from the origin 0,0,0... ok
I modeled according to this base CAD drawings with sketchup but when I check Model Info, the georeference box isn't checked.
So when exporting my model to wrl, how can I tag the georeference infos in the file?
Besides, is it a way to see the actual georeference info when importing a file in sketchup?
I've also been given some cardinal references (N*** E***) by my client but how to use them in sketchup? Thanks for giving me a clue...
