Hello!
You could start with a 6 ft diameter circle, then offset ( select circle - hit "F" - draw another one inside, i.e. 3 ft diameter circle ).
Than select the smaller circle, hold Alt and move it upwards. That should do it.

RE: Complex shapes
Hi, Roy!
You don´t have to own a different program just to make a model of a car. There are some really cool models out there, including planes and ships, like this one - http://news.sketchucation.com/silvershadows-eye-candy-3-tutorial/
Just don´t get discouraged - it is possible to make some really stunning things in SU.
It may be developed primarily for architects, but I like to think of it as a general purpose modeling package.
After all, there are some really hard working gentlemen here who keep providing us with excellent tools to expand our possibilities beyond basic architectural modeling.
Oh, and - no offense taken. -
RE: Making a horn using Shape Bender
Thanks for your reply, Chris.
Your Shape Bender and Fredo6´s FredoScale have already saved me lots of frustration. Needless to mention the effort and hard work you folks put into it, providing us with extra functionality in SU.
I was just referring to this particular "horn" case and possible differences in bending a cone vs. making a curvy horn from the start.
If there are any, of course.
Thanks again. -
RE: Making a horn using Shape Bender
Hi, folks!
What are the advantages of these tools over 2 Faces + Path?
Thanks in advance. -
RE: ! Help
Hi!
It looks like you could accomplish that with some twisting.
Take a look at the FredoScale plugin ( I think that the current version is 2.0h )
And what is this? ( I am just curious )
Cheers! -
RE: Help downloading and installing Fredoscale
Hi there!
Take a look at the http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17948&st=0&sk=t&sd=a, scroll down, find and download
FredoScale 2.0h.zip. A brief explanation should also be there.
Let us know if this helps.
Oh, and FredoScale 2.0 requires LibFredo6 3.1 http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17947#p144178 -
RE: Edges, Faces

RE: Kids With Autism Love This Software
You know Jim, as a mental health professional I am engaged on a daily basis in overcoming the difficulties of living with various disorders, and what is even worse, the profound experience of rejection and discrimination which, of course, is the consequence of stigma.
Therefore I am more than glad to see that there are people like you, willing to help some of them, even in this, somewhat unexpected way - using our favorite piece of software.
And yes, I´ll be very happy if you let me know how it goes.
I hope that our fellow members won´t mind my little digression.
Cheers! -

RE: How do you create an island?
Hi, Lauren
So you´re saying you´ve got 3 circles pushed/pulled to different levels?
If you hold the Alt key while moving the circle upwards, (plus you can scale the circle afterwards ), you will eventually end up with some really interesting shapes.
This could save you some "hand stitching" around them, but I don´t know if that would make a good looking island.
Have you tried SU Sandbox tools? -
RE: Is there any way to change/delete normals in Sketchup?
Hi, Richard
Deleting and changing normals ( if by "changing" you mean flipping them, so they all are pointing the right way ) can be done from the context menu.
You did check your model for excess geometry and inverted normals?
Now I don´t really have much experience with those engines, but you can upload your model so people here can check it for you.

RE: Do you Render?
I am just getting into rendering ( and I suck at it ), so at least for the time being - no.

RE: Rasing walls (Push/Pull) etc.
Hello, Nutech!
As for the doors and windows you could start by drawing a basic shape on the wall and make it a component, and copy it around as many times as needed - than editing one component means editing all of them at the same time - pushing/pulling through the wall to make the opening, etc.
The Push/Pull tool won´t work if there is no face - the lines you draw must form a closed shape. That is about all I can remember right now - but I hope it helps.

RE: Sketchy floor boards? Anyone?
Hi!
You can find lots of useful links in this thread http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=486&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=free+textures.
Although I don´t quite understand "a surface texture like floorboards but just the lines" part.
Anyway, I hope that these may come in handy.
