What a coincidence. I was just thinking about dolph and his excellent train designs the other day.
BTW, where is he?

Here we go again again...

I'll split the topic when/if it continues. It is a debate worth having, but not here.

unfortunately most sketchup artists never heard of the term draw calls
Maybe because most of them aren´t interested in game development
Anyway, have you tried Unity Developer Network? And since persistence and talent is something you don´t lack, experimenting with other 3D modeling software won´t hurt. It can actually be fun. Even Blender

RE: Bender- helix
Depending on how much you want to bend it, one possible solution would be to use Spiralizer: http://horo.ch/raytracing/tools/spir_en.html
Then there is this thing: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld/plugin_details.php?id=59 -
RE: Draw calls - ????
Is this about Unity? There are some tips here:

RE: Tank Tracks
Hi,
I have uploaded a Panther track link some time ago: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=25487
Maybe you´ll find it useful. Only native SU tools used. Not so good for close-ups, but hey...
BTW there are more than a few tank enthusiasts around here. I´m sure they´ll show up -

YES! Thats exactely what i waned!
So give it a try and see if it suit your needs.

which one of this is good? and what do u get with payed that isnt in free?
I guess all of them are good enough, depending on the usage of the user. The free stuff works just fine for someone who´s just getting into UV editing.

RE: Texture help
I by no means consider myself an UV mapping expert, but I´m quite satisfied with it for the time being.
One thing I like about it is that the UV view updates automatically with every cut. Of course, that is probably something that doesn´t apply specifically to Roadkill, but I haven´t spent too much time exploring other apps.
Althought that ALT+mouse stuff for navigating is a bit frustrating. -
RE: Texture help
@iichiversii said:
Im not sure if it can be done directly in SU but I'm sure it can be done in an external uv wrapper,
UV Import/Export bridge to external UV mapping software - and that would mean UVTools, or even better, SketchUV.
@iichiversii said:
what is the best freeware uv mapper capable of doing this?
As Whaat said: ...almost any app that can import and export OBJ files:

i meant is there a way that just one image could be a texture image for multiple surfaces that are together. (like on the image above)
The closest thing would be to unwrap it in an external app IMO.
Or, on a "boxy" model like that, you could try Jim Foltz´s Unfold: http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2007/08/plugin-unfoldrb.html

RE: Need Help with Scale Tool
How about using Fredo´s Box Tapering instead (FredoScale - http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=17948)?

RE: Need Help with Scale Tool
A whole set of tools that makes your life easier. Yes, I think it´s pretty safe to say it´s incredible

RE: Need Help with Scale Tool
If you´re trying to adjust that 3DWH model to your fuselage, you´d better start from scratch.
