RE: 3D rendered walk throughs
Oh, and yes, PlayUp tools does support Valve Source
More info can be found in this thread http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654523 where the process of getting the geometry from SketchUp to VMF is discussed. As it is said there: (among other things)
"This is especially useful for my exploration of using the HL2 engine to give real-time walkthroughs (NOT recored flythroughs) of arcihtectural renderings."
Personally, I have run into problems with complex geometry, which was totally messed up in Hammer. Workarounds in Blender or 3ds Max were far beyond my capabilities, so eventually I gave up. -
RE: Looking for doors and windows...
Hi!
You could try Windowizer http://www.cad-addict.com/2009/01/sketchup-easy-window-creation.html. and see if it makes a difference. It works fine for me. -
RE: 3D rendered walk throughs
Hmm. If this is about HalfLife 2 ( as AcesHigh said ), than it has to be the Source engine ( correct me if I am wrong ), and SU Source Tools.
-
RE: 3D rendered walk throughs
Yeah, I guess you could do that. Although I wouldn´t mind a bit of good old fashion FPS with SU models as well.
BTW are you referring to SketchUp Source Tools?

3D mini clips
Hello,
This one caught my attention: http://www.3dminiclips.com/index.php
Just in case you´re interested, there are some really cool videos there - and sorry if this was already posted. -
RE: 3D rendered walk throughs
Thanks for the reply, Pixero.
I wasn´t even able to start it due to some side-by-side configuration error. -
RE: 3D rendered walk throughs
Although I am not sure if Esperient Creator could be considered a game engine, it supports native SU file import.
Interactive 3D content developed this way looks very good indeed.
But with a price of $500 or even $2400 for a high end package, it is probably out of the question.
Has anybody tried it yet? -
RE: National Opera of Hungary
You must be kidding me? My wife is a nurse too!

RE: National Opera of Hungary
Ah, c***p, just got informed that my colleague is not planning to travel until spring.
So I guess we´ll have ourselves a merry little Christmas first.
Unless you lay your hands on your girlfriend´s salary before that? -
RE: Masked textures
Thanks for the quick reply, guys.
That nice plant image just reminded me of masked plant images collection I stumbled upon on http://www.bishopdigitalimage.com/index.html some time ago.
You made that yourself, Alan? -
RE: National Opera of Hungary
Pirosarany? Isn´t that actually a paprika paste?

Masked textures
Hi folks!
I was just wondering if it is possible to build objects like railings, ladders etc
with masked textures? Say if you want to replace fine detailing with textures, and thus create a low poly model.
( If I understand it correctly, masked textures are textures that have transparent sections? )
Thanks in advance. -
RE: National Opera of Hungary
With a bit of paprika on it? Schmeckt gut ja?
BTW, isn´t that what you call zsíroskenyér or something like that? -
RE: Putting Logos amd Lettering onto models
Hello, Fatoldbaldguy! ( how familiar, except for the "fat" part )
I think it has something to do with "projecting" and " wrapping" textures - check out http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=21762.
I am sure that pretty soon you will get more useful explanations, but hey... -
RE: National Opera of Hungary
I´m looking forward to it. A drink or two sounds very good indeed. Plus I´ve never been to Pecs before.
Do I get something to eat as well? -
RE: National Opera of Hungary
Well, I wouldn´t want to be intrusive, or spam the forum, but feel free to PM me - I guess it could be a bit easier than in the Japanese dude case.
A colleague of mine travels there quite often, so maybe I could keep her company (that is if my wife doesn´t get too jealous).
We´ll work something out, I guess.
