RV203 bug-fixes:
- [Mac] Crash when Converting Thea materials to SKM while IR Overlay running fixed
- [Mac] erratic crash when editing with MatLab while IR Overlay running fixed
- some users have had issue with stopping a render - this may be fixed, but I cannot tell as I couldn't replicate it myself
Improvements:
- custom SU view aspect ratio is supported now
Known issues:
- [Mac] There is a know conflict with 'Vray for SketchUp' installation
Have you yet make a bug report at Thea4SU forum? If not, please do so. You may also want to subscribe on "Versions & Resources (SketchUp)" -forum http://www.thearender.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=81

RE: Lighting

This was just a quickie in Kerkythea. It ran while I was shaving. I didn't spend any time on the materials because your materials need help anyway and very little time was spent on setting up the three lights. The two in front need a little attention to get some better modeling inside the boxes but that is trivial.
[attachment=0:32czrko0]<!-- ia0 -->Carts.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:32czrko0]You may have to accept that your computer just isn't up to the task of doing the rendering. Perhaps you need to upgrade your graphics card.
Indeed, even the model is a bit mess, it can be used for rendering (tested with Thea). Wonder what's the used GPU (if any), or are you using some integrated graphics. For me error give a impression that used GPU has no proper OpenGL support.

From kickstarter: ASMO β Smart charger for smart people
I did happen to spot this "World's first mobile phone charger that switches automatically off when you unplug your phone - and back on, when you reattach it!"

There is a some conflict between V-Ray for SU and Thea for SU on mac.

I suggest you change GPU with this one http://www.legitreviews.com/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-760-4gb-video-card-review-2gb-4gb_129062, so you can use Thea Presto render engine inside SketchUP.
You will thank me later
For rendering, GTX 760 4GB sounds a good deal, but I'd probably look on a model that exhaust heat outside the case (more closed heat sink). For me it looks like this card may exhaust most heat inside the case. As all parts of system must stay cool, there is a risk that heat inside the case jumps too high. Maybe PSU will then get too warm air and it's fan will spin up... in a worst case PSU's performance will drop and you get odd system issues.

RE: From vray to thea?! thea thea!!!!!
There been some suspects that if both vray for SU and Thea for SU are installed there is change for a crash (maybe observers do not play well). Anyhow... about the crash, you really should post a detailed bug report at Thea forums (if you not already have done so); used software version (su, thea & vray..., os, hardware specks, gpu drivers and so) so that Tomasz can take a look on this.

RE: Best GPU for Sketchup + Thea GPU Rendering?
@creator 3d said:
Can someone explain why AMD is not mentioned in this discussion?
Maybe because the topic is "Best GPU for Sketchup + Thea GPU Rendering?". At the moment Thea GPU rendering is build with CUDA, so AMD GPU is not a option (until a OpenCL version of Thea is made).

RE: Best GPU for Sketchup + Thea GPU Rendering?
Architex, as far as I know GTX 780M should be just fine with SU. But there might be some other issues... nvidia uses Optimus technology that switches between discrete GPU and integrated GPU. Thanks to it, there is a possibility that GTX780M is not actually used with SU.
Get Nvidia tools from
https://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us%26amp;l=en%26amp;s=bsd%26amp;docid=439417
These should give some idea what GPU, integrated or discrete is in use and with what program. NOTE: They seems to work even if you have no DELL system. But it would not hurt to search if your laptop provider have own nvidia optimus test tool set.Alternatively there may be some GPU malware lurking in your 780M, mining bitcoins and using GPU cycles. These are relatively common.

I downloaded the Kerkethea pluggin for Sketchup but I am not able to find it in my files to activate it...HELP !!!
OS?
Plugin version?
SU version?
Did you extracted the plugin to a correct folder?from su2kt_Install.txt (included in su2kt_XX.zip http://www.kerkythea.net/cms/index.php/downloads/software)
1.Please copy su2kt.rb and su2kt folder into Sketchup\Plugings >> Sketchup\Plugins\su2kt.rb >> Sketchup\Plugins\su2kt\ Overwrite all older files. On PC the default folder is; C;\Program Files\Google\Google Sketchup ... \Plugins On MAC the default folder is; Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup ...... /Sketchup/plugins
If you a windows user, it's best to give your account a modify permission on "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kerkythea Rendering System" and also on SU plugins -folder.

Don't recall if Thea for SU had actually crashed SU for me (but I am using a old SU8), still there been reports (at Thea forums) that v-ray for SU and Thea for SU together may result a crash (SU 2013 & OS X). If just Thea for SU where used, everything where fine. Tomasz probably do know better, if there further details on this.
Multiple render engines together has historically been known to increase chance of crashes - usually due to competing observers working at the same time affecting the model.
Sounds feasible. Maybe some more robust method than observers is needed (if not already exist).

Really?
I did not pick up on that when I browsed their website.
The renders look great. All Thea Render live-plugins do work inside the modelling app; Thea for sketchup. Naturally you can use the studio too if some particular scene needs that.

RE: Model for Rendering Samples - Green Dragon
As a side note. If jumping into "dragon" studio, one might be interested to look on Henrik Wann Jensen's iconic A dragon made of frosted glass. That inspired some years ago a Frosted Glass Challenge (Any Render Engine) (http://www.atillaakin.com/maxwell/dragonmatrix.png).

RE: Rendering Samples using Studio Lighting
I suggest picking a properly modeled model; UV mapped, no back faces, "watertight" for physically accurate materials, scaled correctly and detailed enough with chamfered edges. Also include some reference images for the model (if a real life object exists).
Kiehlmann's "Render this: Old Camera" is a perfect example.
