Hi there, can I ask one thing?
I tried to use plugin but I guess doesn't work when file is huge....
Clicked plugin and nothing happened. No alarm.....
Is there any method without divide geometry?
Any help will be helpful
Many thanks.

So I deleted some of your model because I do not have time to do it all.
You should try and do a portion at a time to have more control and to not stall your computer.
I used just the Flowify method and not Flowify without cut
Here is my try on curved baluster:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkMAr9Me_-ODgY4pxDlGCkxKzsr4nQ?e=Fc6HRZ

Few notes:

• You can not use components, only groups
• Clean your model of unnecessary geometry, like internal geometry.
• Clean your model of unnecessary lines, if you do not have any use for them.

Hello!

I'm trying to use the Flowify extension to apply tufting to a curved sofa, but it looks like Flowify is only compatible with Sketchup 2019 and under. I was wondering if there is a similar extension I can use to do the same effect of bending the geometry?

Thank you in advance,
Amy

I use Flowify for that purpose also and it works in SU 2021 just fine.
Can you post pictures or a file so we can see what is the problem?

You did UV unwrap this model and used Substance Designer for texturing?

My two cents would be to move the light so that it fills more interior and if you graze curtains so some light passes through them it would be great.

@ramonbastos said:

Hello! I noticed that when I use SubD, it creates some polygons that are not really necessary, making the file bigger. You can see in the example below:

<!-- ia1 -->panela 01.png<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:1fj1e773]

<!-- ia0 -->Screenshot_53.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1fj1e773]

I tried using TT's cleanup, looks like it removes some "random" lines. Of course its not random, but it leaves a lot of lines that I can erase and keep the same geometry.

Any tips on how to optimize it?

I think this is the way Open SubDiv works, it subdivides polygons and does not care if they are coplanar after subdivision.
If you use the Cleanup plugin after you are done with subdivision then you are actually doing decimation of that model by removing edges from coplanar polygons.
Where you can get in trouble after you do Cleanup is texturing where there could be some distorted texture on those polygons.

Does anyone remember an old SketchUp model of an Asian tea house/cabin?

It was very simple and I think, set in a minimalist bamboo landscaping?

On stilts with steps?

Sorry that's all I can remember except the design was elegant and simple. I don't even need the model, just pictures of it.

Thanks.

Can any of this help?

thanks for your help. any help will be useful.

On destination mesh:
You have two group levels inside that mesh group so I exploded that one.
I removed the rim around that mesh since it is not needed to wrap that Voronoi mesh.
Run Solid inspector and removed stay edges.
Removed line group and created it again.

On Voronoi mesh I removed thickness, you can add it after you create a new one using the JointPushPull plugin.

There are some weird spikes after I run Flowify but you can move them to their position manually.

Larger office. Models from the warehouse. Static background in Raylectron. Picture is of an offset office complex so it's supposed to look... odd. I'll post it if requested. It was the best I could find after several hours of searching.

This is the final. 12 crashes of SketchUp. 30-some-odd restarts as it would freeze on first restart. 24 hours to render. Light emitters kill render time. Just kill it. This model was too much for my system. πŸ˜•

Would it be helpful if you use rayelectron proxy objects for those lights?

Hi, here is GIF in which I use ToolsOnSurface and Curviloft.
I made it too big, first time creating one so this one I upload to my cloud service:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkMAr9Me_-ODgYg5gAhaz5zX3bg45Q?e=oAgoRF

What I did is recreate that portion with more segments on a curved surface to get a more smooth transition from a high count of segments on the hole to fewer segments on a curved surface.
Hope it helps, maybe BOX or Dave gets something better. πŸ‘ 😎

Well, I was wrong!
That chamfer should follow a curve and my idea of just offsetting the hole on the flat side is wrong.
I will try and make a gif today by using Tools_On_Surface and Curviloft and post it today.

• RE: Hull/Cover

To get that you will need to create that shape using quadmesh and subdivision from start.
I do not see how to use that model you post and use any subdivision since that mesh is not prepared to be subdivided.
See on YT tutorials on subdivision in Sketchup.
You could use remeshing tools like this to get quad model and then attempt subdivision.

I try using Curviloft, made offset of 200 on the flat side, and made a tube.
Intersect with a curved surface.
Create a copy of your curve on a curved surface, and copy the curve into an object, but on an orthogonal axis.
Delete current curve and after that I used Curviloft.

• RE: What's this way of texturing called and how to learn it ?

Yes, UV mapping. You can use free ones like Blender or Ultimate Unwrap (paid) since it can open and save skp files.
But to texture that way you need to use something like Substance Painter or similar free ones like ArmorPaint, Blender can do it also but baking is not as good as Substance Painter or ArmorPaint.
For any of them you will need to export your file to *.obj or *.fbx to texture them and after that, you will need to convert that model to skp to be able to use it in your scene.

• RE: Gone from Mac book pro to PC. underwhelmed!

Can you share the file with us so we see if we can suggest something to help with that lagging?
Sketchup have and will have problems with polygon numbers, so if you use it for interior design I do this:

• make tabs (layers) for furniture per room (space) so when you are done with one you can turn it off and start with the next one. It helps when rendering also.
• if it is in the rendering stage you could use proxy to replace heavy models in the scene.
• not using all 4K textures in the scene since they are stored in a SketchUp file so loading
times could be longer, that is my experience.
That is true with plugins also, as much of them loading time will get greater.
• turn off shadows when modeling, it is ok on small models butt it lags when your model gets
big and heavy.

Except for this, I have no other suggestions on resolving Sketchup lagging without a file to inspect.
