Too early to judge, not sure how it fits into a larger goal or plan. Perhaps some basecamp attendees could fill us in.

Is that the opposite of a face-me component?
I've had girlfriends like that.

RE: Terrain, Sandbox, Contours Question
You should be able to use the Drape function in the Sandbox Tools to apply your lines to the Google Earth terrain.
Once the lines are draped you can modify the terrain to make it more accurate according to your survey.
Curbs and planters should be modeled, not sculpted out of the terrain.
Others here will have ideas I am sure.

Yes, I do with a Space Navigator too, strange set up but I'm used to it.
Used to bugsplat but is running smooth these days.

RE: Architecture in Components Browser
Just checked, not seeing any default results. I was looking for people and found nothing (without going into the entire 3dwh search) either.

RE: Newbie trying to understand shadowing and camera view
EDIT, see above
I think it may be related to where the axis is located.
The Red/Green access in the model effects the native SU shadows.
Without seeing a picture or model, my guess is you may need to lower the RG access (like to the basement) I think this will give you a better shadow.
Other here will have ideas I am sure.

Finally getting busy again. I was busy moving, such a pain in the butt to sort, pack, etc.
Happy to have my feet on the ground.

Learn about Bézier Curves
I sometimes have trouble drawing bezier curves. Thought I would share this neat link in case others had trouble.

RE: Khufu interactive
Looks very promising. Watched it on my laptop and was getting an odd flickering, probably a less then compliant graphic card.

RE: I'm looking for a particular kind of tutorial...
Sorry, that may of come off snarky.
I don't model cars but there are many on SCF that do.

Lots of other ways are possible with some of the newer plug-ins.
I only modeled one vehicle:
