yep, 'security theatre', that about describes things for the most part. When I visited the US a couple years ago I was electronically finger printed. There was no question of asking if this was okay by me. Just a matter of please put your index fingers on the pads please! There seems to be no standard way of doing things internationally. If all airport authorities adopted the same high tech standards I imagine it would speed things up a lot. One thing that I often wonder about is the lack of security on what people bring into airports. It is quite possible bring in a case with just about anything in it. Surely the proper place for luggage scanning is at the entry doors to the airport. Getting a bomb on-board a jet is capable of killing 2-300 people. Getting a bomb into a busy airport check-in area could be capable of killing many more people! Recently while at Malaga Airport in the SNN check-in line a noticed a guy leaving a large case beside some seats while me took a walk! I was a little nervous as he as walking away and called to him. I simply asked if he wouldn't mind taking his case with him. He laughed at me and advised that he was going to the toilet. He was and returned after 5 minutes! I was looking at the nearest column and wondering if I should ease my may towards it and stand on the other side, I didn't

I was planning on uploading images and clips to a dedicated Picasa album as often as I could...however, if it comes to playing reporter or actually learning something new and intricate the uploading will wait. Come to think of it...this is Google. Why can't they manage to put up a constant stream of vids and snaps? That is their forte and obsession these days.

I really think so Susan. Even if the Shuttle makes a lot of stops, this time could also be spent waiting to meet someone and share a car ..... Swings and Roundabouts

Thanks for the link Daniel. I will check it out. Yes, you spotted a potential problem in the shelf support area. Initially I had in mind to use steel hangers from the unit top. It did not look clean! I decided to utilise a simple construction method that I've seen for wall shelves. Its a steel dowel system, see attached picture. I have countersunk the plates but I imagine this would not be rquired as the unit would not fit flush to the walls because of the skirting board. Mike [image: dixe_SteelSupportDowels.jpg]

@mike lucey said: Lewis, I suppose the the SketchUp Gallery you are talking about, http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewforum.php?f=81 Mmmm I wonder should there be a dedicated Architecture Forum? I don't know. Management is at present looking at ways to rationalise the big number of forums that we have. In time we will get it right Mike Actually, there is an Architecture subforum...I knew I wasn't hallucinating (about that, anyway). It is just isolated from the rest of this in a strange way, and I had missed the instructions on how to access it...you have to add it to your usergroups under the User Control Panel. Here's the welcome thread: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=193&t=8353&p=51661#p51661 Sorry to get off-topic...in this thread, Julian was nice enough to supply a website that would allow me to adapt my Asus eee to have a touch screen: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5965&p=51660#p51660 I haven't looked yet, but I bet there is a way to turn it into a stylus-based system as well...of course, that's the more-time-than-sense alternative to something as capable as a Modbook.

Yep Bob, Canvas 11 is the current version of Canvas. The company that owns the software have decided in their wisdom not to upgrade the Mac version of Canvas But since I've moved to Mac I tend not to use it as much as I did when on Windows and I have found a number of small compact programs that do the bits and pieces that Canvas did for me AND they open in a second Canvas is what I'd call 'a jack of all trades' piece of software. I'd be interested in hearing how you get on with it. Mike

@alan fraser said: It looks very desirable...like most Apple products, but for me it would fall between two stools. If I merely wanted to keep in touch....email, surfing, GTalk or even FaceBook...I'd just take my BlackBerry; it fits in my shirt pocket and it'll work anywhere, not just a WIFI hotspot. If I thought that I'd need to do some real work I'd take a proper laptop. Totally agree with you. Evenmore I want to say this... Macs are very fascinating items (I had a IMac G5) but when you have to deal with your everyday work you 'll certainly run against softwares that does not support the OS platform. So I prefer to give the Apple's design up and go for a Win laptop where I can run all my favourite apps!
