I'd say I left out a lot of the clasps etc Eric. Still it might be fun to make a little movie of the table opening / closing Mike

Geee, thanks guys. I'm gradually getting the hang of Podium. While it is a very simple program to get underway with, it has a hidden depth of control but does require some experiment work. I have yet to figure out how to properly get a daylight effect in a room. The render I posted really is a 'cheat' as I gave the ceiling a light value then cropped it out of the picture, well it works to a certain extent I'm playing around with the 'Omni' lights / features and think this has to be mastered to achieve what I want. I probably will come up with my own 'cobbled' workflow, but what the hell!, as long as it achieves the desired effect. Mike

Hi Watkins, Initially I just worked from overall dimensions, those indicated on the IKEA site under the particular model. However I have bought and put most of this furniture together so I might go back and double check to see how accurate I was. On the other hand, as these models will (probably and definately my case) only be used for presentation / render I see no real need to have them spot on. Mike

Thanks Markus, coming from an expert like you that's a pat on the back I've nearly finished the collection of furniture that is going into the apartment, just a couple more pieces to model. I was there for 5 days last week putting all this stuff to geather .... my hands are quite numb at this stage I'm attaching a couple of pics showing how I'm getting on. Or better yet, skip the bulky portable device and use this BMW (Bowel Movement Wagon) [image: J5kD_BMW.jpg] Just make sure to lift the lid before you depart.

I see the image and not sure if i should feel sad for the poor animal or happy that we live in a time that wheelchairs for dogs are available. I suppose happiness should be the emotion as the dog now has a life of mobility, and he can challenge those damned totalitarian pigs on the farm with his own rhetoric "Four legs bad, two legs and two wheels better".

Maine Coon! First I've heard of these cats. I have learned that there is a UK Maine Coon Club but nothing here in Ireland. I found this interesting link, http://www.verismocat.com/htmscripts/leo-guinness.htm Mike [image: WCEA_Picture3.png]

@tim said: It looks ever so like a Carver One. So much so that if I were involved in either company I think I'd be talking very firmly to the other about plagiarism. [edit - read more about the venture stuff and noticed that they actually have a relationship with Carver] A friend has a Carver and I got to ride in it last summer. All I can say is Wow! Want one. However, fortunately for my bank balance they're not available in Canada yet. Yes Tim, the USA guys are under license from Carver. They are also talking about having the V1 into production late '08! And at looks like a good retail price, $20K. Not bad for such a complex hand built piece of kit. A Carver would cost me over $40K delivered to Ireland ..... not worth it! But the V1 could be brought in for the $20K mark as there would ne no taxes involved due to the Green policies for hybrids now being implemented here. So just maybeeeeeee Mike

Could SketchUp be transformed to a BIM or PEN System?

@dan rathbun said: What are your goals concerning the cost per seat ? Will it require a SketchUp Pro edition ?? Will there be a more than one edition (ie, Novice, Pro, etc.) Are you planning to incorporate any extensibility that would allow 3rd party extensions to your BIM system ? Right now, we don;t have a set price, but we WILL have multiple levels of functionality, though, that is not set, either. As of now, we don;t plan on making anything dependent on PRO, though I can see where having Layout would be ideal for this sort of work. As of now, we are considering interfacing via a generic IFC format, but nothing is carved in stone. @brewsky said: Hi Aaron! I'm also working on a BIM plugin for sketchup, check out: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=34007 I just added a tutorial to highlight it's functionality! Development could be much more effective when all sketchup-BIM-developers are working together. I'm interested in your answer to Dan's question, is your goal a free(open source?) tool? If so, would you be interested in joining forces? And if not so, maybe together we could make some "BIM-guidelines", so a wall in one plugin can be recognized as a wall in another plugin... Maybe even share IFC-import/export... Cheers! Jan I have seen your work in the past and I have to say it is quite impressive! As much as several of us enjoy the spirit of open source, we are being payed by a company who will want a return on investment, so it will be secured software that will be sold. As for the "BIM-guidelines", we are using the IFC standards, right now. They are not complete and, I feel, will change in the future, but it is a start, and it is already gaining acceptance and following. Again, thank you for your input and comments, we are very excited about this product and are looking forward to as much input as we can get from the members of SketchUcation! Thanks, Aaron
