Hi Guys,
Has anyone tried out the Mac AirBook yet? I have not
seen one but hope to do so next week as I will be visiting
my local Apple Dealer in Limerick.I have been reading some reviews / articles on the AirBook
and it seems that sales are not going as well as originally
expected! The lack of a built-in CD player is a downer also
limited ports.I think Apple should have brought out a Table Laptop instead?

Need more reasons not to buy an Airbook?
In the case of hardware, form should follow function and not the other way around. -
It certainly looks beautiful.
My wife has set her heart on one, maybe later this year. -
I think there pretty good really. Youve just got to bear in mind thats its never going to replace your desktop, or even yur current laptop. Its a very lightweight mini laptop for emailing/document editing/internet browsing while your on the move.

Mike, before you go out and get yourself an AirBook why not look at a lappy that is actually usable and with something approaching 2008 specs.

I really wish that the Air had more horsepower and less air. I get so tired of lugging around my old Dell.
I've been tempted to buy one of these, although without a doubt they also don't have the horsepower to run SketchUp. But Rhino, my other main modeler, has much lower hardware requirements, and Rhino 2 will run on Linux so I don't even need to cough up for a Windows license.
Geez, they're only $500. I should just go buy one. Might cheer me up.

Im sure the Airbook has plenty of horsepower for the market it was designed for.

It looks very desirable...like most Apple products, but for me it would fall between two stools. If I merely wanted to keep in touch....email, surfing, GTalk or even FaceBook...I'd just take my BlackBerry; it fits in my shirt pocket and it'll work anywhere, not just a WIFI hotspot. If I thought that I'd need to do some real work I'd take a proper laptop.

Totally agree with you.
Evenmore I want to say this...
Macs are very fascinating items (I had a IMac G5) but when you have to deal with your everyday work you 'll certainly run against softwares that does not support the OS platform.
So I prefer to give the Apple's design up and go for a Win laptop where I can run all my favourite apps!
