RE: Rayscaper, My trip down the road to adjumacation.
Repeated via a GPU render, much faster and a lighter render from otherwise the same settings.

RE: How long does it take to produce a good render?
It looks as though rendering is going through a once a decade shift, so many ?AI? render sites/programs etc are coming on stream so the next basic toolset might just include a bluddy dictionary........
How many old stle render resources will still be here within the next two years? Twilight is gone now and others like Maxwell have glacial development lead times while the current ethos appears to be constant change.
Interesting times indeed, Mr Pratchett.........
Twilight render home page has a signature model somewhere used to reference render times as the only way to really rate speed is to use the same resource and juyst see how long it takes.
I may well have to have my current pc replaced so two changes in two years, somethiong of a swine to replace/update texture and light resource which you no doubt experienced too.
Something you will need to consider is the contrary nature of folk who will consider everything done by others as a quick job that has little or no value to it. I did a series of renders for a local business owner who wanted planning permission for a change of use license.
I did about twenty renders, each time parameters were changed and then I was asked to redo the whole thing and produce a document for submission. Not best pleased when I told the idiot I could not and would not do everything again in ten minutes just because "I have to submit these documents today ffs".
Sugar/Vinegar......
Actually, my biggest issue now is replacing/repairing the current pc and I have no intention of doing favours for the locals, they can make their own damn documents. Perhaps the Beavers will help?

RE: new use for an old building
Brilliant and hugely motivating. Bra and indeed vo.

RE: The Nadesico A
A great subject you have there, with you eye for detail it is going to be interesting for sure.

RE: A piece from my real job, not really sketchup related.
@Box
Magic, the 'boat' looks like a great place to be.The door etc well, mind blown in a good way. Thanks for showing it here, it improves my day seeing this sort of thing.

RE: I need a model of a cushion
You have a lot of people who believe in you, stay strong mate.

RE: Homebuild Hi-Fi.
Ta Rich. Modeled myself but cues from stuff I did more than a few years ago.
Each module docks directly to the one below apart from base. USB and HDMI ports at the back, control via the built in keyboard module and an app for mobile or a pad/notebook.
Rendered in Twilight to give a base level for Rayscaper attempts.
WiFi speakers and/or headphones for locational sounds. The vertical turntable is wall mounted via hooks at the back.

A very talented guy, very nice to see these pices and they genuinely make my day.

RE: Genius small house
It's a heck of a topic and has been for a long while. Containers are a far better emergency housing for natural disaster victims too, easily shipped wherever they are needed and consider the middle east earthquake of not long ago, better for the people than the plastic/canvas tentage so often seen.
I believe it is easy to go too small when looking at this question and the container idea, not only valid but brilliant re-use, re-purpose, recycle material. Refurbing a used container that would be scrapped, how cheap is that? Far more of a solution than other ideas and with good thinking, serviceable for years or decades.

RE: Homebuild Hi-Fi.
Ta mate, knowing when to stop is not something I can claim to be good at.......
It helps that I still have one of those old Dell laptops.

RE: Reading or music room, autumn.
A little more progress, as hoped the hdri reduction brought the background into sharper relief. Simplified the ceiling moulding again and cleaned a few things up.

Ah, thank you Mike, Maybe it is because I am still like a child... wondering about this life... naively...I am going to share a sparkle that is nested in my mind for several years.
If I ever lose the child's inquisitive nature and always asking 'WHY', I will know (Or not maybe) that I am truly beyond hope and into the realms of putting pencils up my nose while saying 'Wibble' a lot.
Pardon the Black Adder quote.

@Bryan-K
Ta mare, pretty simple stuff really, just time. Twilight makes the biggest improvement. -
RE: Ukraine
Perhaps you could expand on that thought?
Whatever the situation, adults who should know better, murder and maim their way to self righteous indignation.
Extremism and greed seem to be the basis of what is called religious fervour and justification comes because others will not succumb to 'our' point of view.
Listen to this 'oldie', it raises a lot of points we should all bear close to each and every day. My piece of moral indignation I fear.

RE: Homebuild Hi-Fi.
Appreciated mate, thanks.
I know of developments when I was looking which included a simple arm on a low friction bar at the tope of the unit, sorry but I cannot find pictures, it was thirty years ago though. I did this for giggle and kicks, no doubt if I were seriuous about it I would look up knew (Pun intended) methods.
In short, you are correct. Keeping the orientation of the 'needle' will be difficuilt even in the example you posted.
Thanks mate, I appreciate you taking the time.

A little further down the road, moving on, officer......
