That's exactly what I was looking for. I thought it was a SketchUp setting. I'm an ex Mac user, and sometimes those common Windows functions don't click. I didn't think to check folder options in the "view" section. Thanks DaveR and TIG!

Weird. Maybe a repair installation of SU2015? New computers can come with out of date drivers so it might be worth checking for new graphics drivers. Is it 64-bit or 32-bit SketchUp. Shouldn't matter but those things that should aren't panning out. Slow down on the beer before the eyballs fall out.

@unknownuser said: Thank you tomtom, 2.9.9 did the trick! Good to hear. Currently the only extensions I have that uses binaries are TT_Lib and Vertex Tools. So you want to avoid updating these on your OSX 10.6 machine.

As it seems people are at least looking for a download link. Even if it was on a file sharing site or where ever but legal.

Being sold away from Google made SketchUp more free. And in that spirit it sits now in %(#000000)[SketchUp/SketchUp 2013].

That's why I said two of them... I've never thought of or called them colors. Even when I use flat colors. I think of it and refer to it as a material. I used to think of them in line weights back in 2D cad. they were color coordinated. certain colors meant certain line weights.

As free polygons tools maybe you prefer Hexagon (French product against Wings3D Some more easy and more powerful and more modern UI! [flash=420,315:2po2454p]http://www.youtube.com/v/usaxw0fkbLk[/flash:2po2454p]

Interesting. Sorry it didn't work for you. Perhaps another Mac user will provide a clue as to why this is happening.

@unknownuser said: "I chose the 3ds format again because in obj the model was importing into Poser in at two different scales and 3ds was not." ah this one, when you import in poser, you'll have the choices "Percent of standard figure size 100%" and "centered" turn those OFF. ok, the model will import at a huge scale,(poser scale is tiny. a legacy thing), but it will then import at the correct scale with each other and in the correct position to each other. then in poser, open the Hierarchy Window, and drag the pieces together to form a single unit (eg, for your model above, drag "Dome" so it becomes a child of "Walls"). then select the parent and rescale that. the child parts will rescale as well.

I avoid Collada as it never imports right in any app I've ever used, I do not know if it's due to SU not exporting it right but it just does not work. I also say .obj is true universal, just remember to flip axis and you are golden.

I've used it with great results. It exported all the objects and materials. I tried a couple of complete rooms with dozens of objects and materials and it worked fine. It also comes with an export feature to render the scene with Luxrender. from a newbie point of view. I imported into Bryce and Carrara as well.

Glad you find a workaround, but wonder what caused the original problem. Sometimes ruby issues seem almost like alchemy.

hmm... another benefit a plugin manager could have: check for conflicting plugins from a blacklist or known problem-plugins.

@gaieus said: @3dbuilder said: ...When saving a model, Sketchup should automatically purge the model of unused components and materials... No way! I constantly work with models where I keep things only in the "browser" and such. ... this should at least be an Options option.

I have found a very good exporter to .lwo: http://www.flay.com/GetDetail.cfm?ID=2362 In fact, I have finally exported to Blender my more complex model. Of course, no textures, it's a work you must do manually later. But it's the best free solution I have ever seen
