RE: Enscape for Sketchup
A little late to the show, but noticed this last month when researching VR and saw that it works with Revit and SketchUp...so that's a plus for my firm.
Then I ran across a thread in their forum discussing the Oculus Go and noticed Pete on their...maybe it was his question. Anyway, actually learned a lot about VR headsets from that thread and how people are using them with clients.
My quick question is about portability and VR...has anyone played with that yet?
Revit Live requires the model to be uploaded to the cloud then downloaded to run...which I think is ridiculous when you have the computing power to do it...but what about portability. You can't always rely on robust internet access if you take the setup to a client. Can you run Enscape from a muscle powered laptop for a walkthrough in VR? Without internet access?

You need to organize and lead SketchUp Users Group in Dallas
LOL - I'm just doing my best to keep my head above water with SketchUp and Revit.
Pete's really the star in the area! Thanks though.

Here's Grapevine Public Safety Building...We opened it yesterday!

RE: Marvins_dad's Gallery
Richardson Heights in Richardson, TX - modeled in SketchUp, then Revit...but rendered in Lumion (just shortly after they added interior lights as a feature.
Now that pool would be full of Lumion people, for sure. -

Some really great looking work. Another north Texan that makes me feel very inadequate....
I have also been looking at the VR stuff with SimLab Composer 8.0.7. Some interesting stuff. There animation tools seem pretty powerful as well.
Solo, they mix rendering with animation that has some capabilities that match both Animator and MS Physics.
Wish I could learn from some of you guys but I just do not have the artistic talents that most of you possess.
Thanks Dave!
I'll have to check out those since we are really just starting to investigate VR, how we can use it and how far to go with it. We've only used Lumion's tools since we already own it.

RE: Marvins_dad's Gallery
Looking to see if I had uploaded one of my Lumion fly throughs I came across this video...this is for a project that I don't think I have posted about. NRH (North Richland Hills) - City Hall, Public Safety and Courts building. A quite large project!
Apparently the metal panel supplier created this video...

Great stuff mate, planning on adding animations in the future?
I'll have to check and see if any of my Lumion movies are worthy of showing off.
We have started playing with the Lumion VR feature recently though - so maybe at some point that will be something to share.
BTW - love the avatar Solo.

RE: Help! You're my only hope...
The issue popped up again recently.
Found it to be a Skatter issue after all.
I could pull it up on a machine without Skatter plug in installed with ease...would hang forever on my machines that had Skatter installed.
Went in and purged/deleted the Skatter reference on the non-Skatter machine....saved then opened in my Skatter machine (no problem) - then redefined the Skatter perimeters...and works like a charm.Unsure what the hang up is and once redefined the problem hasn't occurred again.

RE: Implications of end of google earth
Yep - me too!
I have been working on a large project for a few months, came back to working on a few site mock ups and noticed the diminished quality of the "add more imagery" when trying to set up my 9 square grid of the city block I was working on.
Ended up grabbing Google Earth Pro and saving the highest resolution and then attempted to scale it to match the blurry DG image.
For some reason I couldn't draw directly on the top of the GEP image, I had to draw from the bottom - very odd.
But I really noticed there was something amis when I started extruding buildings and wanted to "Add Photo Texture..." that was where I was informed of the 5 year contract with Google that had expired and after I made do with just faceless blocks I came here to see what the F was up!I am looking for a viable alternative for both features I have lost and will be following this and any other thread that pop up on the subject.

RE: Help! You're my only hope...
And...it crashed again...damnit!
Will see if I can get an old version to work while trying to bring that one back up.
I had purged out all the unused Skatter setups and purged and fixed the file...still bugsplatted. -
