The newest building is 1908! That's awesome!
Monroe Shops was built in 1914. They just don't build and maintain buildings in the states the way they do over there.

I modeled a historic building for a project that is now under construction.
It was called Monroe Shops - in Dallas, Texas. Apparently it was a maintenance facility for Trolleys back in the day. Now we are re-occupying the building for DART police. Adaptive reuse for the police of the modern transit system.
We were fortunate to have drawings to go by from the client and previous renovation. But we also got a great deal from a local University's library of images throughout the years. I could always go to the images to see how it was supposed to look, because sometimes it was documented incorrectly in the field verification documents.
I ended up only working with a section of the interior where we were housing a historical trolley car in the lobby - but it was fun learning all the history while doing the research for the project.
I can assure you they are pretty heavy files. I sometimes go to them for the range, but they can bog down really fast because of their size. I have even cropped a few down in the past.
I created the texture and gave it the 83+" scale. That makes it about a 6'+ texture...so it won't repeat on a 5'
If you like I can share jpg versions with you...they are still quite large though ~19mb...that way you can test it out yourself before you purchase. I can set up an FTP for you to pull it down.
Example: Wood-01 6002px x 6002 px or 83.351"x83.351" at 72dpi = about a 45mb png file
Which specific texture are you looking for?
Looks like I have Volume 1
I made my decision based on the ease to work within SketchUp, tweak and re-render since I am constantly updating my designs. Using it as a design tool more than a final render tool.
I had worked with Kerkythea, but every time I had to make a change it was difficult to reload the file without something blowing up and re-texturing got really old. When Twilight came out, being a child of Kerkythea, it was an easy decision to work with it. The added bonus of being able to continue to work on the model while it renders in the background is really cool!
Never heard that word, but I could start using it.
We use the term "Parti" regularly to describe the Initial Idea/Plan and sometimes I call an initial Model a "Parti Model". That language came from my particular Architecture School - I sometimes get blank stares when speaking to people that graduated from other schools.

That's a good idea...both - the avatar and the username.
My username comes from my online name for my beetle...whenever we get together at car shows people more often call me Marvin than Antoine. LOL
But, meeting folks after seeing their avatars and usernames for so long it would be easy to walk past someone you have talked to for years if they just had their proper names on their name tags.
I guess it's down to take the netbook (light) or the workstation grade laptop (heavy) or just rely on the Android enabled G1 (it IS Google, after all - right?!).
Maybe I will see if SketchUp will run on the netbook...probably not.
Yeah, I was wondering if they only got 50 takers...or if they are adding to the original 200 they were looking for?
Wyatt - I sent you a PM - if you want I will add you to my nomination pool to make sure you get the nomination. Couldn't hurt to be nominated more than once.
I'm at the Bestwestern as well...figured it was the closest and since I can't make it for the Tuesday dinner, I figured I might be able to get to meet more SketchUp folks if I stayed where everyone else was.
I got a Golden Ticket!
Woo-Hoo!
Wish I could make it for the Tuesday night dinner so I could meet all you guys before the lessons start, but looking like I will fly in the morning of the conference to save a $100+.
Anyhoo...anyone else still needing a nomination, I got 10 and they have to be in by the 21st...so let me know.
You guys have some great work. Love the play of the shadows and minimal textures.
Here is a little dome I am working on for a Court House.
Hey - I'm more of a lurker than a poster - but really interested in the event. Hopefully I can get an invite.
Wow - this is my first post...guess I am more of a lurker than I though.
