Please use the "pack scene" feature when sharing scenes. It's possible the slowdown could be related to external assets such as IES profiles, high resolution textures, etc. I see in this case that Andy was able to reproduce the issue without the external assets, but I highly recommend sharing that way in the future.

Hi, here is the link with packed scene: http://leteckaposta.cz/880330958

Could you pack the scene (Plugins>V-Ray> Pack Scene) and reshare it with the community in another post. Id like to test this and see whats actually going on, but you are missing a lot of information in the last shared model.

Hi, I have made a copy of existing file (becouse I am still rendering 😄 )
please see a following link for packed scene: http://leteckaposta.cz/880330958

No No No! Never EVER wait this long for a render. This is just insanity. I just rendered a 4500 pixel wide interior at the highest settings and it took 2.5 hours. Granted, this all depends on your workstation setup. What kind of machine(s) do you have? No one should have render times like this... except Maxwell users. 😆

I tried to render smaller version 1280x960 - I started yesterday evening after Andybot reply and again it still is not finished - only 45% as attached .. 😞

      I have one machine: Intel Core i7,- 2640M CPU 2,80GHz, RAM 8GB, Win 7

Hi, could someone help me with this render?
I needed resolution 1600x1200 - but I am rendering it more than 6 days and it still is not finished! 😞
I really do not know why... I could understand 14-24 hours with scene like this, but not days..
When I tried to render - it was slow white walls without any reflections too..
I tried to turn off spotlights but it didn´t help for render time..
It is a problem with lighting, materials or render settings?
      Thank you

Sorry but no... I tried with the file you provided, but came to the same conclusion as you, use a 17mm focal length override.

thank you for help anyway.. 😄

When I finally corectly matched my model with inserted photo in SU, I can´t set my camera with the same parameters as picture was shooted.
When I use on photomatch scene a tool "Creates a physycal camere with real world camera parameters", I'll see that focal lenght should be 26mm but when I use it in VRay camera setting, my render looks different than in viewport...

any distortions in photomatch won't be matched by vray. One thing you can try is to click on the zoom tool. Then look at the focal length value in the VCB (box at the bottom right of your SU window) click in that box and type in the exact same number. You may see the camera "jump" slightly, with the photomatch distortion being removed. Then save your new view and try rendering again.

I do not know if I understood correctly - I typed the same number from VCB box as the new override FOV and notting jumped..
When I tried to render it still isn´t correct.

Not sure if this matters or not, but the Advanced Camera tool output on the first image is set to Screen, have you tried setting it to Photography > Full Frame (or APS-C depending on what type of camera took the image).

Hi, I have tried it but it didn´t help - as attached
Photo was tooked by Digital Canon 7D which isn´t fullframe

I also tried to uncheck override settings and to have only advanced camera - the result is quite simmilar as in viewport but still it doesn´t match with enviroment/matched photo.. 😞

This is maybe misunderstanding becouse of my english.. .)
There are some distortions which I saw by modeling the room from photomatch - I do not care about (its not so big problem).
My problem is that: I can see correctly matched model as I want in scene but I can´t render it in the same view as I see in viewport..

Disable both "Override FOV" and "Override focal length", and leave the zoom factor to 1. It should work fine.

Hi, I've tried it and result isn't correct - see attachement.. 😞

I think Vray mimics a 35mm camera. So you should enter the focal length of your camera only if it's a full frame DSLR (Or an old 35mm film camera). Otherwise you need to convert the focal length to a 35mm equivalent.

I expected that if I don't override FOV in VRay Camera setting, I should get exact the same view of render as is a viewport.. It means without any special camera settings - Do I wrong?

when you have a very bright background, the color will be picked up by the anitaliasing at the transparent edges of your render. A few things you can do.

      1. quickest is in photoshop - go to layer --> matting --> defringe, and use default 1 pixels
      2. make your background environment darker to match your underlying image.
      3. hide your background materials in your render (in the material properties, check the option for showing only in secondary.) You can then use your background image in your vray viewport by setting it as the environment background, and use "screen" mapping.

Thank you - I have used enviroment photo and defringe in PS and both together works 😄

    • How to correctly set photomatch camera with real exif ?

      Hi Guys,
I have tried so many tutorials and still don't know how to do this.. 😞
When I finally corectly matched my model with inserted photo in SU, I can´t set my camera with the same parameters as picture was shooted.

It doesn't matter if I set output as Override Viewport to my requested size or not.
As you can see on the attachement - render doesn't fit with evwiroment background (the same as photomatch photo).

      Could someone help please?

At the moment I always try different setting of Override focal lenght and Zoom factor to match as much by my eye... 😞
So best result I have get with Override focal lenght to 17mm and Zoom factor set to 1,0.

in the wood material's settings, in the reflection layer, the Affect channels option should be set to 'Color only.'

Hi Eidam, thank you for a reply. This setting was already used on my render.. 😞

There is a difference in color of halo effect only when I change enviroment - if is "on", halo effect is white, if is "off" - halo effect is in black color

    • How to remove halo effect in Alpha channel?

      Hi, could someone help me?
I tried to use Alpha layer rendered scene (with transparent background) from Sketchup as a mask layer in Photoshop, but there is some halo effect around rendered objects.
I had to edit in the same way as in this tutorial- http://www.lynda.com/Photoshop-tutorials/Removing-halos-Darken/48372/51450-4.html
Is there any way how to render correctly - Alpha vs. RGB model?

Can be this problem solved by atialiasing?
My settings of antialiasing is in attachement.

      Thank you for help.

    • Transparent material which will cast shadows

Hi Sketchup masters, could someone help me pls? I'm trying to create transparent material which will cast shadows. I used following tutorial for ""Skp Two Sided Material to hide the ceiling from the camera" http://goo.gl/S89ADF . Problem is that it doesn'work in my case - as attached screenshots (I shown walls with different holes to have different shadows/lighting on objects on the floor...). I want to see through the wall (from inside) but to keep shadows from the wall. Material which I created works only from outside. If I tried to rotate walls to fix it it didn't help.
I do not have an experience with 2 sided material so maybe there is some rule that shadows can be casted only when the source of light is on the side of material which is see throught and not that rays go throught material and cast shadows as is shown on pictures which I posted - the same material on the same objects but works only when sun is behind me.. I don't know..

On Chaos help say about 2Sided material exactly what I need but I don't know how to use it: http://goo.gl/owJRLc ("This can be very useful for architectural visualization, and can be used to look inside rooms with the appearance of the wall still affecting the illumination of the enclosed environment." )

Other questions how to do it are: Vray2Sided material vs SKP2 Sided material, Wrapped material? Alpha chanels? My goal is this (similar as exterior view which I can do - in the direction of the light beam), but view is from interier against the direction of the light beam.

Couldn't be a solution wrapped material?

My 2 sided material setting and this SketchUp model: http://leteckaposta.cz/151726154
