    • How to correctly light the scene with HDRI picture?

      Hi all, please could you help me?
      Few months ago I found some tutorial where was as scene lightning source used a picture. It was very usefull for me to have the same light as on the original picture.
      Problem is that I can see part of the original picture (edge/bottom corners of the room) on the rendered scene - see attachement. Do you know how to remove this "ghosts" elements? Or how to light it corrctly based on the original picture?
      Thank you

      Please does anyone knows how to render it corectly?
      Similar problem (without enviroment background was in the post http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=322%26amp;t=43350 )

      When doesn´t match enviroment background on the screen with render output, I can´t save image with wrong hdri lighting and whole work is useless... 😞

      I have an idea - could be the problem in enviroment setting?

    • RE: HELP - How to correctly set photomatch vs output (VRAY)?

      Hello Andy, thank you. I tried it now.
      So at the moment I do not have a problem to have the same view (which is not distorted) as matched - I can do this by Reset camera aspect ratio - as attached.
      I can render this view - without bg it looks good.
      When I use enviroment background when render, model is moved to different place/size so doesn´t match with background. (in matched scene is the top of the TV wall at the bottom level of lighting,)
      Could this be solved to I can render with background also (background is the same picture as matched photo, the same size as I want to render)?
      BTW how can I switch "mm" to "degrees"? Thank you

      @andybot said:

      Let me clarify a bit. Re-typing the field of view and jumping out of photo match will make sure that your view is not distorted and that vray can render at the same viewpoint. The size of the image will not be an exact match, you will either have to adjust it in photoshop (which I did here) or by trying to get the height and with of the render to match your photo. Note that using degrees instead of lens length will get you a more accurate match (this is 71.31 degrees in this view for example. The 25mm is not as accurate.) I can send you the photoshop file if you want to see what I did to get this view.
      Hope that explains it a bit better.

      Andy

      original - model matched

      reset camera - only model

      model rendered but doesn´t match with matched picture/enviroment background

      no - to match it I had to change camera setting to physycal and zoom factor to 1,40.
      Output is almost correct but the way how to achieve doesn´t..

      @andybot said:

      Does it match if you scale it to the proper size relative to the photo - if you overlay it in Photoshop?
      (Sorry, still haven't had a chance to look at the file yet.)

      Perspective was changed but no correctly.. .(

      @andybot said:

      no, don't adjust the vray settings (please un-check the FOV override.) This is in the SU vcb (in the bottom left of your screenshot.) Just re-type the number "25" and the view will jump out of photomatch, but should retain the same perspective.

    • RE: HELP - How to correctly set photomatch vs output (VRAY)?

      I´ve tried to set camera focal lenght the same as in photomatch - 25mm but without any success. If I use physycal camera there is only worst scene lighting..

      There is a link to packed scene: http://leteckaposta.cz/822737484

      @andybot said:

      you might try selecting the zoom tool in SU, and then exactly re-type the view angle in the text box at the bottom right of the screen. This can reset any distortion in the photomatch view, allowing vray to render the same angle as the scene view.

    • RE: HELP - How to correctly set photomatch vs output (VRAY)?

      Hi,so problem could be in Vray - because if I tried to render without change output size (override viewport is off) there are still changes in shapes - TV wall should finish at the window corner but its in middle of window..

      @hornoxx said:

      Hi Martin
      I´m not sure how Vray´s camera behaves because I do not use this tool.
      So I made a little test with Shaderlight. Everything works well, as expected.
      The essential size setting is always the height adjustment. A renderer always renders
      the exact height of your SkUp´s viewport. So only the width setting remains variable.
      Here is - you know that yourself, of course - recommended to set the same resolution, which
      your used photo has or at least the same height-width ratio to make the post pro in PSD or
      Gimp easier...

      Anyway, within Skup you've done a good and precise work...

    • HELP - How to correctly set photomatch vs output (VRAY)?

      hi, could someone help me - I have photomatched model which I would like to render (the same as enviroment) in the same FOV. All renderes have different distortion than original photomatch. I use Vray Camera tools- so I tried to reset camera aspect ratio of the matched scene and render with the same aspect ration as original picture (1,5) but without success..

      Thank you for a help!

    • Color bleeding

      Is in v-ray for SU the VrayOverrideMtl which exist on v-ray for 3DS?
      I am trying to solve color bleeding and the best what I found is to use VrayOverrideMtl
      http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help/150SP1/examples_vray_overridemtl.htm
      or

      I can´t use the trick with two irradiance maps becouse it will be rendered on the render farm.

      If you override the SU camera in VfSU then SU won't reflect that. If you want them to match you need to set the focal length in SU.

      Hi all,
      I have a question - how can I see correct view in SU when I change "Physical Camera setting / Override focal lenght /set to 17? Is there some way how to see in viewport the same aspect which will match with the render?
      Thank you very much for an advice!

    • SU+VRay+Renderfarm time/speed of render

      Hi,
      does anyone have an experience with rendering on renderfarm?
      I've tried it for a first time (GarageFarm.NET) with attached render.
      This test render took about 4 hours in resolution 2240x1680px. I wanted to have final render in resolution 8960x6720px - their time expectation is 2-3 days!
      I expected that render on render farm is very fast - in minutes/hours as I saw on youtube videos.. 😞 I think this scene is not too complicated for these times..
      When I asked why it take so long, answer was:
      "sorry, it's due to sketchup's limitations. we can't put it throiugh our render queuer since it does not support the commandline like max, maya or other 3d packages"

      Does anyone know how to "brake" this limitations? Or Is the problem with my project? Should I prepare datas in different format? Is render farm the same as distributed rendering?

      Thank you

      @andybot said:

      check to make sure your window panes are facing the right direction in SU. If you have faces reversed, the refraction will be distorted like you see there. You should have the front face facing out on both sides.

      Thank you - it helped! Originally I had only a plane as glass without any thickness. When I added it, the result was correct.

      Absolutely. There have been massive improvements to materials since 1.49 version. Any old files might cause issues in 2.0

      The glass panels with refraction glossiness will take some time to render depending on the subdivs, but I didn't see settings that were all that high on it. I think there is a buggy material in there that needs to be hunted down or just start from scratch.

      What are you machine specs? It looks like you have 2 render buckets. That could be the issue too. A dual core processor would take a long time to render any file you throw at it.

      Ok, I´ll try to remove all materials and start from the schratch..
      My specifications are: Intel Core i7- 2640M CPU 2,80GHz, RAM 8GB, Win 7

    • RE: A Nightmare render

      Thanks guys,
      Yesterday I have tried to change lights & materials setup, uncheck low thread priority according to your answers and render it again (1600x1200). From reflection materials I removed any bump maps. Aqua blue material with some weird characters "×óãóíèé1" was removed and replaced with standard glass.

      All materials without any reflections was rendered fast as usually, lampshades, bed & chair and floor slower, but with possible speed. The rest of the render - bathroom, TV screen where glass wall reflected, wooden shelve under TV and of course glass wall spent over 20 hours and I am on 90%...
      Packed scene with updated materials: http://leteckaposta.cz/145119615
      Maybe I am wrong but there is not any special material setting used.. 😞
      For example floor material and shelve material should be similar - only different texture and amount of reflections.

      After defaulting all materials and render settings, it rendered in a couple of minutes. I reloaded the nightmare.visopt and fixed the IR and LC settings as they were set to render from file, and it rendered fine with the settings too. So in conclusion, there is a funky material, probably something from an older version of VR in there. Unfortunately, this legacy stuff needs to be reset and start from fresh.

      Do you mean that there could be a problem when is used material from older version of SU/Vray? This could happend - because this is updated old scene.. So I should delete all materials and create them again?
