      "intersect faces."

Yes, I have used that with the intended results for some things. I tried it here as well but was not sure how to do it properly for some reason this time. I got the edges on the four objects but after that things sort of fell apart 😄 I guess it comes down to me not really understanding what intersect with model and selection actually means in practice.

I will try to follow your suggestions. Thanks!

I could use the slice at selection plugin, but I want to learn how to do it without. This seems to be a pretty basic and very useful know-how. I need to learn it.

    • How do I subtract this?

I have four objects (see first picture) and want to remove the bottom part by using a block, as seen in picture 2. I manage to do these type of operations when dealing with simple objects like a box and such. But I can´t use the subtract with these, Sketchup tells me they´re not solid. This almost always happens.

      They´re all components.

Any tips? If there´s another way other that using the subtract tools, that´s fine too.

Can you see other links and images. For example in my post above there is a link to a thread for Gifcam. Can you see that or does it say something like you need to disable adblocker or something like that?

I can see and click the link.

"During all of this make sure the the component origin is where it should be (probably the very center of the lamp base)."

This doesn´t seem to matter for me. I can place an object anywhere. The path copy will still make the copies end up along the selected edge. I guess that´s positive?

In other words do you see them here.

No. But I would like to 😕

Right, tried that. Could´ve skipped the pipe plugin. Thanks.

I will try the Upright extruder now.

    • 3DArcStudios trees work, but not grass

When I use the 3dArcStudios plugin Tree maker it works fine with trees (you just select and click, I like that), but when I do the same with grass it shows up as outlines, and when I render it doesn´t show at all.

      Any help?

    • My water slide becomes a death trap

      100% casualities.. 😕

I made a helix with the Curve Maker plugin, then used the Pipe Along Path plugin to make a spring like shape. After that I sliced the pipe with the follow me tool. The result is in the attached picture.

Is it possible to make the slice only follow the top half, so the slice doesn´t rotate around the tube?

I´m not expecting an easy answer (or any at all) on this one, seems complex, but maybe I missed some vital detail when constructing the object?

      Thanks!

Man, you people are great. THANKS A LOT!

I can´t see attached pictures by the way. I have some add block which I don´t know how to remove when coming here. Anyway, it worked great!

Right click on the component and select Scale Definition.

For some reason this doesn´t make my objects turn the way that I set them. I remember it worked earlier after the help in this post, but not now when I try. Any ideas? The don´t follow paths the way they´re angeled in the original. About two times out of five they seem to end up just about anywhere on the artboard as well..

If I create the objects myself there doesn´t seem to be any problem, but when I import objects they´re a headace.

The result turns out different everytime.. Here´s another example.

Is there a more reliable plugin with the same properties?

If I create the objects myself they follow the path the way they´re set, but when I import an object they never follow as intended.

    • Path Copy help

I´ve a lamp post that I want to follow a path using the Path Copy plugin. I´ve imported the lamp post, rescaled and rotated it and then clicked "scale defintion".

The attached picture shows the result. The lamp posts are not placed the way I placed the original object as you can see in the picture. Why?

This worked before with the same lamp posts.

    • Why doesn´t the texture change colour?

I´m sitting here trying random stuff to learn Vray and Sketchup better.

In the attached image I have set a texture to part of a surface of some weird sandbox shape that I created. Then I changed the colour of this smaller part of the texture from the default grey to red with the colour wheel. Everything looks just like it should in Sketchup, but when I render it the colour is still grey, not the set red. Why is that?

    • Select same fill colour, is it possible?

If I have a group of objects with many different materials, and I want to select a specific material and change that on all the surfaces that have that material set, how can I do this?

What I´m after is the equivalent function of the Illustrator option "Select same fill colour".

I have the material changer plugin, which is great, but is it possible to do this with the standard Sketchup functions?

      Thanks!
