RE: SketchUp 2018 - first impressions
How many people find navigating in Sketchup frustrating..........like I have said before: scroll wheel smoking as I try as I might to get trough than invisible wall made of viscus mud. It can be fixed, connexion 3D mouse has solved with software, so It can be done. Why has it not been fixed. It is a fundamental problem.

What do you mean "were into Lego"?
Agreed, no need to stop enjoying. I stand corrected. I remember the sound operated module that would turn on and off the 4WD motor and the little bricks with light would fascinate me.

How many SU guys were into lego?
Hi all, I am curious,
how many Sketchers were into Leggo as a child. Just interested if there is a commonality in the real and virtual 3D headspace. -
RE: Texture question
Looks like you need to check the texture size in vray as the SU texture size has not translated to vray So the image has tiled much smaller.

RE: SketchUp 2018 - first impressions
Seems to me like trimble concentrates on a "big list"
How about fixing such a simple thing as navigation. We all know mouse navigation is less than good in Sketchup, like consistently fighting my way through invisable wall with smoke eminating from my mouse center wheel.Seems to me 3Dconnexxion solved those issues but trimble cannot?
Same old same old. How about they solve some real problems. -
RE: Most Efficient Way to Create Paths for Wiring

@philw said:I use both the Cotty and L i am methods, very time consuming .
I keep hoping that someone will come up with a none destructive spine tool for sketchup, something similar to the way 3D Max works where you can draw your line, add nods along the path and adjust to get the desired shapes. Then you create a thickness to suit your size requirements. The none destructive part is you can go back and make changes later.
Hi, not sure what is time consuming, so maybe I have missed something or you have misunderstood.
Have attached some images to clarify. Those 3 wires took 4 mins 30 odd, seconds.

What a headache for me to do it all in metric!
It's nothing compare of the inverse for us!

it's follish to use imperial unities in the 21 century!

Remember Mars climate orbiter cost!

Could not agree more. In my early school days Australia was imperial but changed to metric in about 1975 so I have a perspective on the subject. I was originally a firefighter and 1 ft of water had a head of 0.433 pounds per square inch. cubic foot (62.4 lb/ft3); dont get me started
1 cubic meter of water weighs 1 tonne. All of a sudden fire-ground hydraulics could be done in your head by moving decimal points.Three countries on the entire planet which are not using the metric system are Liberia, Myanmar and of courseโฆ the United States of America

RE: Lancashire type steam boilers
Hi shawb, really nice work mate
Only constructive comment I would make is modifying the colour temperature of the lighting. The contemporary lighting source of that era would have been incandescent, so would be a lot warmer

In how many time have you paint the Van Gogh that I see on the right?

Not sure what you mean pilou, but that was the first image that was on 3D warehouse. If I had the time, Whisteler, Homer or Belows would have been a better choice

CIA Nuance
I just wonder what triggers such an "CIA nuance" impression?
- it's these typical ready-made grey or black man suits?
- or such a stupid button in the ear? - people who have voices in their ears should usually do a therapy
- and why has this dark van parked across the street for a few days now?
No, just created the dome, looked a bit "White House" made the wall, imported some 3D models. The first (free) 3D model, by "3D model people, google search" was the "suite" and the mood was set........blah blah......just created itself by least line of resistance.........
Oh and the "dark van".................ALIANS the Us Government has decided to outsource, inter solar surveillance expertise

Fair enough, I inadvertently converted to my currency. Still twice what I would pay for it.
But you already have SU 2015 Pro (as per your profile info), thus I'm sure if you wanted to upgrade to the latest version of SU (2018 Pro) then you would not be paying the full US$695?
I use pro at work but make at home for personal projects.

Has a "doodle get out of hand?
Hi all, yesterday i just walked to my computer, sat down and decided to play around to see how to make a 3D tassilated dome.......well i started at 3 and at 6:15 ended up with this, absolutely no plan but a model and render of what seems to be inside the White house
with a CIA nuance
Like I said no plan just organic fumbling. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Total time from non concept/modelling to result including render time 3 hrs 15 minutes. I would normally take 5 times that just to finesse a work. -

...Then draw the line on that surface and remove the cube,...
... which is a very clever idea because drawing somehow curved lines in "empty space" isnยดt easy at all !
- too obviously this "simple" idea to ever come up to me

Hi HornOxx, I used to design playground which involved a LOT of nets......necessity is the mother of invention. And yes the mechanical detail, from CJ was very nice

RE: Most Efficient Way to Create Paths for Wiring
It may be obvious and you may work this way but i create a cube or whatever group it, and then pull it so a face meets where the centre of where you want the wire to be. Then draw the line on that surface and remove the cube, then follow me. Or use the line to tube plugin.
