    • RE: Planning divorce from Windows...worth dating Linux & Ubuntu?

I use CentOS6 for my servers and I've been salvaging some Army computers that have Ubuntu on them.

Linux is great for servers... People? Not so much. Ubuntu is okay... It's nothing special though. I have not used SU on either.

As for Windows... I hear 10 is the end and you don't have to buy it. I've heard it's their last OS. May just be rumor mill as I don't much attention to those things. But I wouldn't doubt them moving more towards pads and phones. They say they'll just be doing updates for security and drivers.

I would skip 8, go to 10 give it a spin and then if you don't like it, ditch and try one of the others.

I also make a set zoom extents for all views in my setup. And I usually have to make an arbitrary plane that encompasses the entire building regardless of view, where it's always the same width that is longer than a height.

But Dave's copy camera settings suggestion would work. as would copying the entire model out and into a good file.

    • RE: Projecting through a solid

Yeah... As Dave said, there will only be one of each image, even if you mirrored it, it would be the same image mirrored. and there is a plugin to import all images from a directory.

with those types of images, those that are hard to discern left from right, you could easily just paint the surface with the one material... I doubt many would know it was not the same on the other side.

Depends on if you can have back faces on a solid. then it should be revered on back right? I'd have to test.

I hadn't even dreamed of getting a fresh plugin and that it would work on comps. I was just hoping someone knew of a plugin that would extrude it. You da man Mitch! I'll give it a try in just a minute.

I want the opposite of what her's does... I think... Her's stays upright, I want mine to rotate with the face as it does, when it does, if it does.

see this fence? it's supposed to follow the face at a right 90 all the way around.

And you're sure it's not overheating? A laptop under heavy use in Texas? might install Hardware Monitor from CPU-ID guys and check your temps while you work. Might also pull up the performance tab on task manager and watch the ram and cpu to see how they are doing during use.

You need to go to your device manager and look at your video cards. See if you have just the one 765 or if you also have the onboard. if you have the onboard, right click and disable.

sketchuh, yes all these 3D systems use X,Y,Z coords to locate everything, they all use it, just some don't show it as much. While sketchup has that info, it doesn't really show it to you because it's a simpler system. That plugin will allow you to click anywhere and get coords for that spot.

    • RE: DISPLAY OF SECTION CUTS

Section cuts as well as a few other style options are a little finicky. they seem to not like to be messed with. normally resetting the style in layout or updating the reference does the trick.

    • Follow Me & Align

I need a plugin that extrudes a face along a path that rotates around it's own axis and travels up and down in the z and travels freely in the X and Y. Wherever the line goes, I want the face to follow along aligned to that edge and it's face.

      Does this exist?
