    • Online Degree in Architectural Visualization

      Hi All Sketchup Masters,

      I’ve been thinking to get an online master’s degree in architectural visualization to combine the sketchup modeling and rendering with virtual reality for example to realize in UE that an animation of building scenes can be experienced by people wearing VR equipment.

      Is there any online degree in this field that I could obtain to help in putting my thoughts in practice maybe? I’m grateful for any possible suggestions from any one of you, much appreciated if anyone could help to shine a light please.

    • Flowify Doesn't Work! Help!

      Why Flowify wouldn't work on my model of a Voronoi Bridge? I got the three groups and an independent one which is the voronoi skin that's supposed to be projected to my target face but somehow it keeps popping up alerts saying there's hidden geometry in my model that can't be merged with visible geometry. How can I find the hidden geometry as I don't see it on the Outliner...

      The other option is to do the repairs manually... but I guess it's rather easy to re-model than cleaning up the mess... frustrated.

    • How come TT Cleanup doesn't work on my model

      Having the same issues with Nested intances, Short edges and Internal face edges (had quite a few geometry cleaned up last month) though the Cleanup Plug-in by TT just wouldn't work on these detected issues, thought it'd be faster and a lot more efficient to run an auto cleanup. Could anyone help me please? Thanks.

      I turned off GI and changed the parameters in GI to be Primary Rays - Irradiance Map and Secondary Rays - None. It worked with one IES for a minute as attached photo but after me putting more IES lights even setting them at different intensity, they all disappear!! How frustrated... Still don't know what went wrong...

      Hi All, I've followed all instructions to set up IES lights that I downloaded from the internet, but no matter how big I set the intensity to be, it just wouldn't show on the Frame Buffer...Help please!

    • Vray 3.4 Render Options for Spotlight

      Getting a bit overloaded with the render settings for spot light. With cove lighting tubes, it's easy to set up the rectangular lights and select almost all default settings then it appears to be fine but it just doesn't seem to be right with my rendered spot light - same one chosen from Vray lighting (V3.4). It could be the settings that were incorrect:

      For example, the Intensity, which unit should I use - the default scalar or the Luminance (lm)? How could I convert 5w LED spot light into lm? Is the Falloff option Linear?

      How come it doesn't look normal as it's supposed to be? Why is there a missing section between the spotlight itself which isn't shown on the photo and the shadow? Please help. Thanks.

      Netfabb licensing is similar to Sketchup, you download the full version, but it reverts to a free limited (but still very useful for 3D printing!) version that you can use indefinitely. I use it for opening STL files, checking and fixing them for errors, scaling models, and separating models like you need.

    • How to Break a Roof Modeling into Parts for 3D Printing?

      Hi. I'm modeling a house for 3D printing, I've created the floor and walls in different groups so that they can be separatedly printed since my 3D printer is not enough scaled. But my roof is a whole piece, how can I break the roof into pieces to be printed later to enlarge to a satisfactory size? Thanks in advance.

    • Why can't the lines make a face from floor plan?

      I imported a floor plan for a two-storey house and was drawing lines trying to make faces for push/pull tool to form walls but somehow some lines I drew just were able to make a face! I could use rectangle tool instead but just want to know why...

      Here's a quick version using linear arrays.
      You could manually add the 8 diagonals or use split donut as I have done here.
      Then it's up to you how you move the geometry about. You can use Move, Rotate and Scale.
      Personally I would use Quad face tools and Vertex tools to manipulate the shape.

      I downloaded the Quad face tool and the split tool, just tried them as the photo but I may need to add more triangulates to make the holes look smoother. But I think it'll work to model that building. Very much appreciated.

      I have some experience using the Voronoi plugin to generate irregular polygons in my FloorGenerator plugin but I don't recall ever seeing a "Triangulated Points" button. As its' name implies, Voronoi_XY is for points on the XY plane only. It requires Delauney3 to do the triangulation.

      You're quite right! After posting this yesterday, I thought of one step that I hadn't done, which was click on the view 'top' that'll make all points on XY plane. Thanks for your advice.

    • How Can't the Triangulated Points Work for a Voronoi Buildin

      I just learned to do the voronoi patterns in sketchup using plugins as Voronoi_XY and point tool, when I was trying to draw some points on my imported JPEG of a building that I wanted to model, I couldn't get it correctly after hitting the 'Triangulated Points' button. Where did I go wrong? Or shouldn't I use Voronoi plugin to model this building at all?

      Thanks for your video. I tried lots of clicking on the point, lines that had achieved the mirror function for the curves in my attached photos but when it comes to push/pull, it goes to two different directions that the mirrored object is always on a reversed setting of axis no matter which axis I'm setting to 'mirror' my curves on.

    • Question about Mirror in JHS PowerBar

      In JHS PowerBar plug-in, there's this Mirror button and I'm trying to push up my mirrored component, it's been pushed to the opposite direction, not the same one I expected. How can I fix this? After clicking on mirror, I clicked the two end points and then tried the line on green axis or blue axis then RETURN. None of them works. Appreciated if someone could help.
