I feel sorry about your situation but an example needs to be set. Once you have tracked down all the illegally distributed copies and you have sent out invoices and collected...and then distributed the revenue to the creators of the software, you are forgiven. Until then "the site or sites" you run or are associated with are criminal. Further to that, when you are finished the above I still might decide I want a more elaborate remedy and could be compelled to seek you out through your local authorities. I wonder if they have been approached already.

      @numbthumb said:

Thanks for the explanation. Another question if you guys donยดt mind. What do I have to do if I want to edit a texture applied on a surface? ( i.e. not on a single face?)

I'd create a flat face the same size as the surface you want painting. I'd then paint that face using the technique above. Then right click on that texture and click on Texture > Projected.

Then sample that paint texture and paint it on your curved surface.

    • RE: Question about painting model

You can paint on the individual faces with an external painting application of your choice, eg Photoshop, Artweaver, Paint.net etc.

To do that you right click on the face > Make Unique Texture. Then right click on the face again > Texture > Edit texure Image. I think the first time you do this you will then be given the choice of choosing which Image Editing app you want to use. When you've finished in the painting app, simply save the image and the changes will be made in SU.

You can also set the Image App SU uses, or change it in future, by going to Windows > Preferences > Applications.

    • RE: Hardware recommendations

Without looking back over this thread, it seems to me that most people on here are talking about higher end, $1,500+ machines.

How does SU run on the very cheapest, GMA laptops available for around $300/400?

The PC I have right now is nearly three years old, bottom of the range eMachines desktop - Pentium 4 3.06Ghz, 384mb RAM, ati radeon xpress 200. For me, I really haven't had any problem with SU and the speed is perfectly acceptable for me.

How would this $378 Acer laptop from Wal Mart compare to my present one? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11068044 How would the 9 inch netbooks perform? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11319320

    • RE: What is this and how do i remove it?

You've got clashing faces in your model. That means you have two faces occupying the same space.

I'm assuming that the cabinets in your model are components. Select all the cabinets, copy them, delete them, then there should be the other faces where the components were, delete them, then go to Edit>Paste In Place and the components will be pasted in their original place.

It looks like a really good way to get around SU's flaws.

I'm sure there are a lot of car modelers who will be very interested in seeing your methods.

IM(non-legal)O you're admitting you're ripping off Pink Floyd's album cover in your first post. I'd guess that you will similarly admit ripping off Pink Floyd in the description to the model.

I think it will be safe from legal action from Pink Floyd because it will be too low under the record company radar. It might not be accepted by TS though.

I also think you'd be very lucky to make a single sale with that model.

Your blatant sexism is not appropriate either. Some women will find the picture offensive, just like some men will. But to suggest that any woman will react with shock and horror is a joke.

Bloody hell John, that just sounded obnoxious. What have Gaieus and/or Hungary done to you? If it was meant humourously, I don't get it.

Neither Gaieus or Hungary has ever done anything to me.

      I'll try and explain.

The original poster wants a collaborative art project. In this project, he wants a sci-fi scenario that turns the Hollywood staple of the USA always winning on its head. Russia will be the victor in this story.

Gaieus jumps in, says he hates the story and is sick of his country losing all the time and being invaded. "why not once in the history of the last say 500 years let us be on the winning side?"

Hungary could easily be on the winning side if it simply sides with Russia in the story. As this story has yet to be written, Hungary could be the hero of the story. Hungary could be the reason the good Russians defeat the evil Americans.

But instead of that Gaieus decides he doesn't want to be in. He's whining about 500 years of always being on the losing side. Whining about being on the losing side when you know the score in advance is a bit stupid, isn't it?

I was thinking of appearing in the game as a diplomat, but I guess I've just lost the role.

I already don't like the movie I have to tell. Russia (the equivalent Soviet Union) invaded my country three times in history - we don't really need a fourth version of this story. ๐Ÿ‘Š

We finally joined the NATO and the EU - why not once in the history of the last say 500 years let us be on the winning side? ๐Ÿ˜’

Because you're too stupid to win?

You were told who the winning side was and still didn't know what to do.

If I remember rightly, this software runs on Linux only. Why?
Why no Windows versions (or Mac)?

      Inferno

Inferno is a high-end system for visual effects creation, originally designed by Discreet before they were bought by Autodesk.

It is used primarily for high-speed compositing and effects on feature films and television commercials. In the past, Inferno has run on SGI workstations. Its fast performance means minimal rendering times, so artistic decisions can be made during a session with directors or clients. Inferno systems are priced in the range of half a million to a million dollars (USD).

When SGI supercomputers began to lag behind in performance compared to other emerging technologies, Autodesk moved the Inferno package to 64-bit Linux workstations which take advantage of GPU acceleration.
