As much as I love Sketchup, I think the videos let down your website. Everything else on your website looks professional.
I think that video would be appropriate to show clients very early in the design process, I don't think it serves its purpose as a showreel to future clients.

Check out the public gallery.
They also have 10 models on the 3D Warehouse.

Yet there are other renderers which are not specific to SU (or any other 3D modelling package) so their reasoning is rather cheap. It seems that they are simply ignorant and now get irritated when a question like that is asked.
What is Hypershot? It's a rendering program. What is Mental Ray? It's a rendering program.
Repeat that for every single option on that poll.
What is 3DS Max? It's a 3D modeling, rendering and animating package. The vast majority of images I've seen on pro galleries using 3DS Max have other rendering software used. IMO it was a valid poll question.
Don't like the dark expanse at the bottom right of the first image, but apart from that I think the design and images are really beautiful. Well done.
"What if the world was your pallet?"
It's palette!
Awesome program. Fantastic video.

It seems a strange way to release a program. There doesn't seem to be anywhere you can actually buy a version...or even any indication of how much it's going to cost. Of course you can always download the 30 demo and place an order...but who's going to invest much time in trialing it, much less order a copy when you've no idea of the price point. So how does this qualify as a 'release'?

No problem at all with several searches for me.
Just guessing, but try closing down all your browser windows and then trying again. If that fails, try restarting your computer. Do you have a different browser installed? If so, try that.
Both the images are great, but I really like the "biscuit tin" one. Would love to see it inside a model of a room.
How long did each pic take you from start to finish? I'd expect the texturing was the most time consuming aspect, or was that quick because you had good textures to work with?
How were the models textured?
Any chance of showing a higher res picture? It's difficult to properly appreciate the models when the pics are so small.

Well, this particular "announcement" is basically for hand drawn (not computer) graphics.
*How do I participate?
To join in on this event is simple - as simple as picking up a pencil (or mouse) and drawing. However, the most important part is sharing your art with the world.*
He made four posts on here. He got a $500 programme for free. $125 for each post he made.
At $125 a post, Christopher must be one of the best-paid forum posters in the world?
Did you win the competition? What were the other films like? What kind of feedback did you receive?

I modeled the bar in SU, he did the characters and animation in Lightwave.
Who's he?
What was the integration between SU and Lightwave like? Was all the texturing done in SU? Do you have experience in Lightwave, or is that all your partner's department? How easy/hard was it to create the animation in Lightwave?
Were the characters in the film taken from what was inside the bar, or did you just make them up yourselves?
Really good film. Good to see SU involved with animation like that, even if the animating was done in another app. Will take a long look at your webpage when I get the time to really look at it.

I don't understand why anyone with 1700 free dollars would choose a 900 dollar computer but you can watch the ad yourself below.
Can't get to see the ad.
But as it is an ad I doubt that it was set up as, "buy any computer you like up to $1,700", but rather, "we have a budget of $1700 to spend on a computer, these are the options open to us."
Or maybe the were given $1,700 and were allowed to buy the $900 computer and pocket the rest? That's what I'd do if it was offered to me.

However, what i cant seem to get my head around with 7 basic is, i can create blocks (say a brick wall), i understand about creating the oblong, and extruding it, however how on earth can i type the numbers in instead of zooming in and out for 30 mins getting everything accurate like pulling walls 0.001mm, there has to be a way of just typing this stuff in from an origin location.
Just type in the numbers!
For example. I just drew a random rectangle. The dimensions were 3.89m x 6.96m. I then just typed 5.0m, 7.5m and the rectangle just changed to the dimensions I typed. Same with push pull. Pull the rectangle up, then type the dimensions you want.
Fred - Which plugins have you found that don't work with the free version? I have the free version, and I don't remember seeing a plugin I want that doesn't work with SU Free.
