Hi Cheem, hi folks.
After you change the Guides color in Styles, don't forget to update the style using the icon that looks like two curved arrows chasing each other.

Hi folks.
Just a trick for those who are using SU Pro : export as dwg and reimport while checking the option to merge coplanar faces.

Hi Bossismax, hi folks.
To close a group or a component, you can do one of the following:
1 - Click outside the bounding box (made of dotted lines) of the group or component.
2 - Right click on empty space or on a geometry that do not belong to the group or component to bring up a contextual menu and choose Close Group or Close Component.
Notice that if you are editing a group within a group, you get up one level in the hierarchy. You will then be in the parent group containing a subgroup. Redo the closing to get back to the root of the model. If you have, for example, 3 levels of nesting, you will need to do that 3 times to get out of a sub subgroup. Using the Outliner allows you to get back to the root of the model with one double click.
Read the help about the Outliner Window to see more about groups and components and how to navigate through a complex setup.

Hi Sundad, hi folks.
Attach your skp file to a post for us to see and diagnose the problem.

Hi everyone.
Happy new year 2014 and a lot of interesting 3D modelling for everyone.

Hi folks.
There is no need for any calculations to evenly distribute any number of copies around a full circle.
First, rotate the first copy by exactly 360°. Notice that, as you rotate and come back to the original position after going around one full circle, SketchUp will show 0° in the Measurement Toolbar. Don't take this as granted. Type 360 as the rotation angle. Validate this angle by a press of the Return key or the Enter key. Then, immediately enter the number of intervals, which, in this case of going around a full circle is also equal to the number of instances of the object, in the Measurement Toolbar. Again, press the Return or the Enter key to validate the value.
Done.
Be aware that the last copy will be superposed on the original. If this is raw geometry, it will merge with the original and there will be no problem of redundancy. However, if the object being copied is a group or a component, the copy will be superposed on the original but will be distinct. One of the two shall be deleted.

Hi folks.
A couple years ago I compared a music piece from Yello that I have on CD and in iTune, as a mp3 file.
The mp3 file's dynamic cannot compare at all with the CD. I get deeper bass and better sound overall while using the CD.
Of course, all this depends on your sound system. If you have a sub average sound system with ordinary speakers, you cannot probably hear much difference. Also, hearing changes with age. This must be factored in.

Hi folks.
On the Mac, with OS X Lion and Mountain Lion, The user library is hidden but can be easily accessed.
It is hidden to avoid people from mangling it and rendering applications unusable.
However, it is easy to find it.
From the Finder, open the Go Menu then press the Alt key. All of a sudden, the Library choice appears in the Go menu as long as you keep the Alt key pressed. Select it and you are all set. Once in the Library folder, search for Applications support --> Google sketchUp 8 --> SketchUp --> Templates.

If you want to practice using basic tools, before diving into the world of plugins, click in sequence on the scenes tabs of this sketchUp file for ideas. It is in V6 for Pilou.
Hi Helen, hi folks.
Broomstick gave you one very good and quick way of doing the selection of the perimeter of a face but, as you stated it, you have deleted the face.
I would suggest not deleting the face first. Keep this as the last operation.

Bonjour.
Salutations.
Hi folks.
See this :
http://vision.about.com/od/contactlenses/f/Monovision.htm
I am nearsighted (far objects are not in focus) but I can read or see clearly from very close when I wear no glasses or contact lenses.
About 15 years ago, my optometrist offered me to try monovision.
My dominant eye being the rigth one is fully corrected for distance viewing while my left eye, is undercorrected by a few dioptries.
The net result is that, far objects are sharp when seen by my rigth eye and not sharp when seen by my left eye. In reverse, close objects are sharp when seen by my left eye and not sharp when seen by my right eye. The brain can compensate and objects appear sharp at all distances. Well .. after an adaptation period.
If I drive a car, for example, the rigth eye does the hard work. If I read, the left eye does the hard work.
Surprisingly, I went to see Avatar in 3D and had no problem with the 3D effects, they were present.
Also, with this scheme, the closer limit of my rigth eye and the farther limit of my left eye slightly overlap a little and this happens more or less at the normal viewing distance of a computer screen of about 24 inches or 60 centimeters.
My optometrist told me that if these limits don't overlap, there is a "hole" or a zone where none of the eyes is seing sharply and this may cause problems. In such cases monovision might not work.

Hi ShrockFab, hi folks.
The change is 7/8" in width which translates as 7/16" in radius. That is not much.
I would intersect a cylinder having the new radius with the stair to trim the steps.
As Gilles indicated it, if you use components for steps, trimming one will do all of them except if you have a landing somewhere. If so, this landing can also be trimmed.
If the handrail is too close to steps edge, it may requires moving in a little (probably 3/8") unless you used a good margin in the first design to allow for such a change.
If you can post the model, someone can check if this ideas is feasible or not.
Best regards.
Hi Valve90210, hi folks.
There are no differences between the Pro and the Free version to do what you want.
Before using unnecessary tools and/or plugins, try using basic tools and learn how to master these.
