@ampa said: http://libspiro.sourceforge.net/ LibSpiro is an Open Source implimentation of the Spiro algorithm. It should be possible to see how it all works from the example / source code. Also... http://www.levien.com/spiro/ is the site of the inventor. I had a quick look, but it is very complex to understand, and I guess to reproduce. And the theory underneath is quite abstruse, based on clothoids (curves to make highway junctions), holonomic curves, and other nice mathematical theory, which however were all set out by mathematians from the 18th century (bernouilli, Euler, Fresnel, and others). So if someone wants to give it a try....and then publish it as an extension of BezierSpline!! As a consolation, I just realize that the Courbette allows to draw an arc of circle between 2 points which also includes a 3rd point.

Lately I am starting to use http://www.vimeo.com as video uploader. They have a better (almost 1 on 1) conversion of input to output, resulting in sharper video. At Vimeo, the viewer will see a better quality by default...

I can still remember my home number when we lived in Texas and I was 8. I also remember my first credit card number... glad I don't use those evil things anymore. This story is really sad. What is next, this? [image: jdbE_BigBen.jpeg]

apparently there were "meeting" bicycles with five seats so that you could conduct a meeting while on the bicycle. I did not see them but I think Ross did?

That Rhino newsletter from Bob McNeel is always fascinating, and usually includes one or two new tools free for the testing (this is how Rhino beta tests things). If only certain other software companies worked that way! By the way, the future of scripting might be something described here, linked in that same newsletter (I've also been testing this): http://designreform.net/category/_tutorials-rhino/ They call it "Explicit History", but you should really think of it as scripting with a graphical interface based on the concept of nodes. Blender and Nvidia's shader designer have incorporated similar interfaces, as have certain FEA tools and various performance/video packages like Max/Jitter, PD, and VVVV.

Yes, it is a centrifugal pump. The hard part to draw is the discharge "Tube/pipe". Its diameter changes from where it connects to the body and ENLARGES significantly at the outlet end where there is a flange to which piping is connected (as shown with the red outline). Thus, the posting about whether the subdivision script could be used to speed up the drawing process of the discharge "Tube/pipe".

Dear John, You wrote, "I don't think SU's Section Plane tool can do the following without grouping and duplicating groups." In my enthusiasm to give/find a solution, I failed to read the question. Hopefully, the described technique will be useful to someone, and informative to those who are new to SU. Kind regards, Bob

Yes, you definitely need to separate the geometry from the rest of the tube. If you paint the rest with the same colour you have in the outside of the logo part (white in this case), you can smooth the surrounding lines later; the image will stay separated.

It has also been helpful when using the 3DS export filter (been experimenting with using it for passing my files to a Lightwave user as it will do somethings better than the Lightwave Plugin version 006).

@Todd You forgot the scripts programmed as extensions. Their stub is loaded every time Sketchup starts, but the rest is loaded depending on the checkbox status in Preferences dialog. And this status can't be reached with Ruby. But it would be possible to overwrite the methods "load" and "require' to get to know which files get loaded. You only need to make sure the overwriting is in the script loaded first from Sketchup. azuby
