yeh - that's great - found it after looking for a while. Think i dled the model from the ASGVIS site to follow along but that went down:( wonder if Chaos Group is going to fix the forum and all the materials and tutorial links 😞 would have dled a lot more had i known:(

That's some mighty big GIfs. 5MB and 2MB. Some users aren't as fortunate to have good bandwidth. Had it been a video click they could decide to load the clip or not.

Rule #1: make sure that the geometry you want to displace is isolated into a group or component. If the displaced geometry is connected to any other geometry with a different material the displacement won't work.

I really don't recommend messing with the power parameter, if you want physically accurate results. The power overrides the IES file's information. It should be left to 0, unless you really know what you're doing. Plugging in random numbers isn't going to result in something accurate, because the IES file already contains the correct information for that particular light. Get a different IES file, and ensure that you are working in the proper units.

What are you rendering with ?

i dunno, i think it goes a bit beyond just making the things look fancy.. the unibody design of their laptops can't be beat.. literally, take a solid chunk of aluminum and carve out the innards. they're not just candy wrapped, they're light and durable with attention to detail candy wrappings
i honestly think if you walked in your honolulu apple store(s) and picked one up that you'd be impressed with the design..

[point being, yes, you are paying a bit more but you're not paying solely for the boutique factor.. there's some nice engineering/design thrown in there as well]

Before you solve your problem of buy, you can use the Twillight Render Hobby who has no limitations, just differences about some functions! 🤓

That shouldbe good. I have just got a new card: a 1 Gb nVidia 9600 and it hasn't caused any problems so far (I mean it's very good compared to what I've had so far).
