For future reference this is the sort of thing you should draw directly in Layout. No need to make scenes, or send to layout or scale etc Just draw it full size and print it. Here is a version drawn in layout in a few minutes. [image: yM5e_Tape.jpg] And then printed and checked for accuracy. [image: IJEm_TapePrint.jpg] It took longer to create this post than it did to draw and print it.

Finally found it. I had everything set correctly under the File/Document Setup and File/Page Setup menus, but didn't realize that there are also settings under SketchUp Model in the Tray. Thanks.

Linear dimensions are created between endpoints but when segments are welded as in the case of a circle, there are no endpoints. The intent when dimensioning a circle or an arc is to have dimensions as shown below. It's always been this way. At least going back to V3 which is far back as I can remember. [image: c4QG_Screenshot-11_3_20163_03_15PM.png] If you don't want to explode a circle, draw a diameter and dimension that. [image: ciMM_Screenshot-11_3_20163_08_10PM.png] and if you don't want the diameter line, erase it after you've placed the dimension. [image: WlId_Screenshot-11_3_20163_08_56PM.png]

Here is an example of a messed-up solid, and how to create it. Works every time. I'm astonished that such a basic operation would cause a problem. In my experience, if I work an 8-hour day doing complex mechanical assemblies with SU, at least 1 hour is spent fixing solids. Happened again yesterday, with very simple parts: flat plates or angle iron with holes punched through them. Seems as if every other time I move the holes or change their dimensions, the whole thing goes ka-boom and I have to start over. Messed up solid.skp

Go to Window>Preferences>OpenGL and change the setting for Use hardware acceleration and/or Use fast feedback. You might also check for updates for the GPU driver. Why it got changed is difficult to say.

The Extension Warehouse has a lot of plugins. At the bottom of the EW window it shows 242. But there's a little overlap between the Plugin Store and EW.

@dave r said: I'm not sure why scaling the viewport precisely would be useful since it would typically be the model size you'd be interested in. I use it for joining to viewports with ortho views of sections that are at different levels. Example: 2nd Floor plan has one level at 6m and the other at 4.5m; At a given place the section that works for 6m ceases to work for the 4.5m floor; I have to create 2 floor plan scenes for each level; Inside LO I stitch the scenes with precise viewport through an axis or a model reference... This shows the need for precise placement, however I always create a line in LO for reference so I have to have snapping on and with the line there I have no problem with scale.

Hi guys...Thanks for heads up though. Dave, Please i use sketchup for all my drawings and seem to have my way around all issues and produce very good works that people think its Cad. However i dimension from wall to wall. That's fine as its very precise but i want to know how i can dimension center to center too. I sometimes create grid lines centers of all my walls and group them then, before i pull them up, save as a scene on different layers. it works fine but any changes after extrusion i.e pull up creates another problem and i go bak to dimension wall to wall. i wish to ask if there is a go around or easy approach to center to center dimension of walls in layout. With columns is easy because you have them distinct members but walls run through and picking center to center in Layout is not easy at all. Hope to get some trick from u guys. Thanks to Sketchup guys..

So that seems to be the culprit then. If you are for a new laptop, take extra care not even to listen to the salesman when he is trying to convince you about integrated chips.

I prefer to use Hide as a way to temporarily hide entities while working on the model but I use layers for controlling visibility. As Chris says, all geometry remains on Layer 0. Only components have other layer associations. One way to think of this is that turning off a layer's visibility activates a cloaking device around the the geometry. As long as each storefront proposal is a different component (or group) you will be safe having them occupying the same space and not showing unless you turn on the specific layer. I use this way of showing options on furniture all the time. It helps to keep the model tidy. Make separate scenes for each proposal and change the scene visibility as appropriate for each one. All should be just fine then.

There are certain operations you can perform (simply saying) "From outside" of a component. You can rotate, move etc. (obviously) you can scale you can paint... When doing these things "from outside" (i.e. you do not enter the editing context), they will not affect the component definition, just that instance. Make another test: insert a (non textured) component into the model then paint it with a colour. Either when you insert another instance or you save as... the colour will not be repeated on the other components. All in all, in your case, you should have edited the component (double click), select all "inside" and scale the geometry itself in order to transform the definition itself.
