Ah finally 'found' my model. Setting clip to a large amount and pressing numpad . did the trick, thanks guys!

Instead of playing a thousand and one question why not upload the model to the 3 d warehouse so it can be looked like in detail. That would probably save a lots of time??
The model size seems very large 55MB vs what appears should be simple and looks like aliasing but not quite. Make sure you purge your model and get rid of all extraneous things not in the model or I would even go further and get rid of all materials , cleanup removing stray edges and see what happens when coplanar faces are removed although will probably break your model. At that size you may need to zip it to upload if it will compress far enough. For such a simple model why not re draw and see if problem comes back??
What does this look like in just 2d with out the extruded thickness?? Is there any hidden geo causing the large file size?
Have you tried w/o hardware accel? Have you tried adjusting the anti alias??
The more I look at image the more I am thinking it is a small size issue.
Can you explain why the apparent break across the dia. Use the create.
face tool that comes with SU and select the edges of one of those a see if you can force face formation.
Is the large file size from other portions of the model you are not showing in the image?

The good news are, two not calibrated monitors may give a general idea of how other users see your work 😆
I have a really calibrated monitor meaning, I can see sRGB profile as it should be. Most of all, I use a different profile when going for DTP, this last isn't a standard but looks very close to imagesetters-proofing prints.

With v8 there's a Preferences setting to allow you to preselect a face then PushPull that - useful if that face is in a recess... I can't reproduce your problem no matter what I do 😕

Unfortunately SU's shadow engine does not recognise transparent areas in images thus they will always cast a rectangular shadow unless you really cut them around (thus adding more geometry though the use of billboard entourage would be to avoid this) or you can completely turn off casing shadows of these entities and use a single component for all to cast shadow.

If you download Alan's tree from here and turn hidden geometry on, you will discover three, horizontal components inside. They are painted with a completely transparent png image (but as per above, this transparency is not recognised by SU therefore will cast shadows). True that they will also add extra geometry to your model but you only need one shadow caster component in the whole model (you can even put it on a separate layer and only turn it on when needed) so overall file size should not go too high.

As for the pivot point; when creating the Face me component, there is a button in the dialog to "set component axes". Use that to set it into the middle of the tree trunk and it will pivot around that.

Problem solved. 😄 I just dragged the piece I'm working on in a new drawing and voila! 😛

Well I don't just have one question, so on the long run I think I would be better of on a forum based on creating websites, but it couldn't hurt to ask one: Why should I use CSS for the layout of my website? I'm using it already for the 'looks', but I'm still using tables for layout. Mainly because it is pretty easy working with tables in dreamweaver. [in 'design' mode, not in code. In code it really sucks sometimes 😄 ]

Example: REMOVED [working directory, real site is somewhere else 😄 ]

And I know the first thing you'll find typing 'tables, html' in google is that you shouldn't use it because CSS is better, but I simply don't get it [not even after 15 minutes of googling for it 😄 ]

So, if someone would be kind enough to shine a light on this subject and/or could tell me why and how to [easily 😕 ] use CSS for the layout of my website I would be thankful!

Ps. could we start a thread in the corner bar on how irritating IE7 [or IE6 for that matter] is when you are creating a website. I mean, come on! What takes me 2 days to get right in FF takes me more than a week to get working in IE 😠

The problem is that,it seams, there is no method available in SU Ruby to read 2D panning - same used for foto-matched images. If you investigate the photo-match tool - the camera stays exactly in the same position, only SU performs 'OpenGL region render'. I am afraid Google has not allowed us to read the 'cropped' image coordinates to prevent SU Free users exporting High Res images from SU (stitched from smaller parts).

It is the reason why I (SU2KT) cannot export photo matched perspectives correctly when user has panned the view.

Maybe more experienced Ruby Masters will know a workaround?
