I get the unsoftening when I maximizeor "restore down" the SU window. But not every time, I think. And the Edit menu then contains an "Undo Soften..." option.

I use this great plugin: http://rld.crai.archi.fr/rld/plugin_details.php?id=112 Outputs several different "passes" to be combined in Photohop or what ever you use.

This discourse could inspire a request for a script. One that would highlight or put a target on widely scattered stuff, and the target would scale relative to the camera distance from the objects, so that you could inspect, edit, delete, move, etc. "Highlight remote objects", or "Mark remote objects". You can do this in Autocad, because the blue "grips" scale with the camera.

Well if you want to go with busts modeling I think things are not that different, after all you still have to model a base geometry and then subdivide it . Some time ago I tried to replicate a human figure. It worked pretty nice but as I am not an artist I couldn't make it outstanding and it was a bit disproportionate too . For a start I think it is pretty cool . Also you can find there some of Solo's attempts which are much closer to reality than mine . Here's the link . Hope it helps ! Have a nice one !

Wow, just two more posts and I hit the magic 1,000! (well, one more after I post this one) And in a couple of weeks it'll be my two-year anniversary here at Sketchucation. Seems strange that I've only been doing this for two years, seems like maybe ten.

While all this info is well and good, and much appreciated, the thing is, I've done hundreds of mirror reverse components (at least), all done exactly the same way, and this is the first time this problem has reared it's ugly head. If it was something I had tried for the first time or if I had done something even a little different, that might explain it. But by now doing this is second nature to me, so all of the possible explanations offered up simply (IMO) do not apply. There's nothing different about this simple and very basic model that should or could explain that accursed white line down the middle of the steering wheel horn. But I've put this behind me, and until it happens again I'll just add it to the ever-increasing list of weird things that happen in SU that you just have to live with

@thomthom said: Is it enabled under Extensions? Huh. It was not. Don't understand how that happened, I haven't messed with any extensions in quite a while. Oh well, it's back now, and all is right with the world (except for maybe a couple of things -- the economy, congress, the environment......) Thanks much

Well, I used Revo Uninstaller to remove all traces of Trimble Update SU version, and re-installed previous SU version, and.....same problem. I have finally traced the problem to a faulty, intermittent usb connection on my external hard drive. That drive contains all the files I work on regularly (including all my SU files) and I connect it to either my desktop or laptop. I work from that drive on whichever computer it's connected to, and save anything I've changed to it, backing it up whenever it's connected to my desktop. The day before the skb problem started I had just installed the drive in a new external enclosure, and the usb connector did not fit correctly to my motherboard connection. Whenever it would briefly disconnect is when the problems would arise. Anyhow, I have fixed that problem and everything is working fine now. Even tho the Trimble update was not the bad guy, I'm not going to update any of my computers. I've had a long-standing policy of not updating anything right after the update becomes available, instead waiting until I feel any bugs have been discovered and fixed. This has kept me out of trouble a number of times. I'll wait until a significant update comes out (after I feel it's safe) Thanks again to everybody.

Well, it seems to be working now, new colors are going directly to the right folder, and are showing up in SU. Not sure how this came about though. After much fuss and googling, managed to change security permissions back to where they were, which should have meant that the new colors were going to the App folder as they were originally, but like I said, they are going to the folder in the SU program and show up in SU. I really hate it when a problem gets solved but I don't know what solved it. Oh well. Thanks again.

Insane is less said... astonishing detail on the framework and body. People usually don't pay too much attention when they're making cars as they used to do back in the 50's and 60's. You're the one that still does pay attention to those details, congrats !

Hi everyone, Chiming in here from the SketchUp team: it's very likely that the licenses in question here are not valid. A few folks on the forum have already mentioned the not-for-resale clause of SketchUp's end-user license agreement; to clarify, we can arrange for the transfer of a valid license upon request. However, in this case, we can't validate that they are valid SketchUp Pro licenses in the first place. I'm not saying at all that helinbak's intentions are malicious (in fact, his posts on this thread prove that he isn't), but I do want to give everyone a heads-up for when they see licenses like this in the future. If anyone has questions about these licenses or how to transfer a valid license, please use contact the SketchUp Pro sales team here: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/request.py?contact_type=sales Mark
