@Mike-Amos Depends on your browser. What's your browser? Rich should know exactly where.

@Gus-R Worked the second time. Thanks!

@Rich-O-Brien OK but it didn't seem to work.

@Rich-O-Brien Yeah. Bummer.
How much disk space does that take?

RE: The Larner
@pixelcruncher Thanks. Now I'm tempted to buy a nice 57 Chevy from CG Trader and modeling a couple more of those old house designs. Maybe not I don't know. I have regular work to focus on.

RE: The Larner
@Rich-O-Brien Thanks. Cooler light on this? No. I just cranked it up on the warm side and stuck a flaming hot fire in the fireplace. I could try that later or just shutting off the lights.
The noise is just "add noise" in Photoshop. I also added a sepia filter above that. It's two layers in Photoshop. Three if you include the sepia photo filter. I wish I could have done this stuff in my 20s..
Overall I surprised myself by getting this done within 48 hours. Usually I'm noodling with everything and trying to be perfect. Perfectionism is a real hindrance to creativity. Just do it I guess.

RE: The Larner
@Rich-O-Brien How about... this one?
The 57 Chevy is from 3D Warehouse. Modeler unknown.

RE: The Larner
@Bryan-K Thanks.
Did some changes to the design here and there to make it look more like the original design including the landscaping but I kept the "meadow" scatter grass.
I also added 3D siding using Instant Architect.

Agreed, has atmosphere and I look for that more than geometrical perfection.
Thanks. The cut grass looked ugly so I went with some wild grass and a meadow scatter with a trail leading to the back. I think weathering of any sort is key. Now it looks like some old guy or gal lives there.

The Larner
Killing time and whipped this up today using a design from an old house plan catalog.

@Gus-R Here's a more recent rigid frame section sample from my files.
Here's rigid frame sample I just whipped up. Nothing fancy. All it needs is some roof and wall purlins.

Fred,
Are you familiar with manufactured steel buildings? A good general knowledge will help. If not you can look up the general components of a steel building. You can find some information here.
It's laid out on a grid usually in equal feet. The rigid frame is basically like a wide flange beam with an angle. The center web is basically and extruded rectangle and the flanges are extruded rectangle. You don't have to mess with that when starting out with Sketchup.
Use that sketch, scale it and start tracing from there. Work to scale whether it be in feet or centimeters. Use a known unit.
I never designed any myself but drew countless foundation plans for steel buildings like this including elevations and site plans.

RE: 70 ton Freight Truck/Bogie
@Mike-Amos Put together a quick scene and rendered with some rusty metal I slapped together using Quixel.Mixer.

RE: Re-Render
@Mike-Amos Thanks Mike and Rich. Mike it probably looks better in the rendering than in real life.
Here's what the rendering looked like back when.

Re-Render
Grabbed a mode from 10-11 years ago and re-rendered it in D5 Render. They already built this. I also did color elevations for planning commission meetings. This is the clubhouse and pool area for a multi-family development in Parker, Colorado.

RE: 70 ton Freight Truck/Bogie
@Bryan-K Thanks Bryan.
Exciting new update. These are the mechanical bones of the braking system. Of course I had to be off by 10 degrees with the fulcrum bracket. Supposed to be 40 degrees and not 50 degrees but since the number "4" is right next to "5" I entered "50" instead of "40." This is all over detailed for a boxcar model anyway but I'll change it next.
