Isn't triangulation of all faces a native feature when you export your Sketchup model to Collada? Normally, it should be available behind the 'Options...' button in the Sketchup 'Export Model' dialog. Next, there are indeed separate extensions that offer similar functionality, but these may be beyond your needs. So, best is to start with the out-of-the-box feature, and see how it works for your specific requirements.

SketchUp Make should still run on Windows 11 at least for now. No idea what will happen to Windows in the future. Keep in mind the embedded web connection hasn't been getting security updates for a few years in Windows 10 and hasn't had any in Windows 11 so there could be security issues. Keeping the computer disconnected from the web would help. SketchUp Pro can save back as far as V3.

The current version of SketchUp, 2022 Pro, will save all the way back to V3.

For several years it seems member participation has pretty much died down to just a predictable few. Sad Can't argue with that. I joined the SketchUp forum only fairly recently, so I'm barely past newbie status yet...but I'm spending far more time over there now.

@driven said: I've been watching this thread and have a dilemma in my understanding of your pursuit... simple flipping and scaling of components helps keep the file size down in a skp... so any diversion from that principle only makes the skp larger and harder to work with... Yes, I am aware of that. @driven said: is this desire for an 'on export' conversion, as that's a completely different thing that is available for some formats already... if it's for export, why not say which format you need this for? john I did not think it was relevant but since you asked, .s format. It was designed by KUJU for the 2001 game sold by Microsoft -- Train Simulator. While that game lingers on some 15 years later there is an Open Source replacement called Open Rails that will read the .s files and display those models and textures in-game. My work is for use in Open Rails and I use only Sketchup for 3dcad. An example: [image: 4wQN_Clipboard0704_small.jpg]

@oceanembers said: Projection will cause distortion at the extremities of the cylinder, so it maybe isn't the best idea for any graphics/decals that aren't decently central, unless you want to start sectioning off areas for different projections. Other than that, yeah projection will work in OP's instance, it was probably overkill for me to suggest UV tools. Working with one of the UV plugins would indeed be the best and most accurate approach - no doubt... However, although the OP have set his SU experience to advanced, he seem to have limited knowledge about UV and how it works - as far as I can tell - hence I suggested the projection approach before jumping into more complex plugins and ways to apply textures on cylinder shapes... You need to learn how to crawl before you know how to walk...

@slbaumgartner said: Out of curiosity, did you try showing hidden geometry to see whether that face was split by a non-visible line already? Yeah, that's how I verified the direction I should use when drawing the line. As I said before, this wasn't an issue using the FollowMe tool, it was the Upright Extruder. The product of both functions look identical in the middle of the extrusion; FollowMe along an Arc screws up at both ends, the Upright Extruder gets the start correct by has the same flaw at the end. You would not know the faces in the middle were actually quite different in the results of each function until you started texturing.

^ follow me etc work perfectly fine and accurate in many (probably most) situations. it's not broken and doesn't need replaced. just tuned up for how it works on arcs and circles is all. there doesn't need to be two different tools. it's a simple 1rail sweep tool. if the path is an arc, it should sweep an arc.. if you're offsetting an arc, it should offset an arc.. if your path doesn't contain an arc then it acts like it does now.

As a quick reference, if you zoom in on the axis lines, you will notice that the Red and Green lines are dotted on one side of the vertical axes, and solid on the other. The solid green is north The dotted green is south Solid red line is east Dotted red line is west

Of course you can share the output freely. "Sell, rent, lease or lend" means for profit; money or other exchange of goods. So if you are a spaceship designer and wish to boast with your renders in the gallery section, please, continue doing so.

Thanks for posting this ... this morning my Win 7 64 machine (Lenovo T400 with ATI graphics) refused load SU 8 without Bugsplatting within seconds. I have win Update set to manual and may have updated something like a Defender file late last night, but nothing major. GOOD NEWS - removing LIBFREDO6_Dir_47 has stopped the crashing. I had already tried removing TT stuff (started there because of the .dll objections posed by Online Armour, not because of any doubts about TT, or Fredo, both of whom I hold in awe for their excellent plugins) and was working my way through when I saw this post. So ... Thank you, again <edit> SU 8.0.16846 Checked update logs ... updated Defender definition KB915597 2days ago (22 Mar) but didn't restart from off until this morning, Next most recent Cumulative security updates KB2809289 and KB2807986 (as mentioned by OP) plus a number of others (Silverlight, MSRT, defimition updates etc.) on 14-Mar but I have restarted numerous times since & using SU each session. </edit>

@genma saotome said: Seems like updating the version of ruby used for Sketchup would he most helpful. Any reason for Trimble to do that as a routine step or is this one of those don't fix it if it ain't broke situations? They've tried earlier, but it was troublesome. However, from the talks at Basecamp it did appear they are again looking to update the Ruby core.
