...I just tried the Twilight demo and I must say: fabulous User Interface!!!!
I wasn't expecting such a nice workflow. It is simple yet elaborate.
      Some great thinking behind it.

Could the Twilight developers make a similar UI for Vray,Fry and Maxwell please? πŸ˜„

      Hi Kwistenbiebel,
πŸ˜„ This is a high compliment, indeed, we are pleased that you can appreciate it.

This project has more than a year of very hard work/labor of love from a few guys from Kerkythea.

We designed it with architectural designers using SketchUp in mind so that ANYONE, newbie to rendering, or advanced users like ourselves to be able to get out of it what we each want... that is, Twilight Render is as shallow or (almost as) deep of a program as you want it to be...

Please use it in good health.

      Render Happy,

      @kwistenbiebel said:

I am in need for such a 'clever clay' method as well... Monomaterial renders but with transparency for glass...Great for 'scale model' look as well.

Of course kb, as xrok1 has pointed out, surely you know this, but this is now two simple clicks in Twilight. Unlike the 'others' who make you physically change ALL your materials back and forth... it AUTOMATICALLY CONVERTS ALL MATERIALS to 'flat white' EXCEPT for light emitter surfaces, and glass materials, and it does it by simply picking 'Clay' render preset and hit the render button... all within SketchUp. This way of course you can quickly check lighting for interiors or exteriors.

This is an innovation that came first to Kerkythea by request of it's users and is now is in Twilight.

You will need to add different textures, "dirt" is a nice option in the Vue material pallette... Twilight will have this in the future.

For now, you will need to add the dirt in the textures in SU... I will see what I can do, and post

I looked at the model, and there's a tiny problem in the corner in the smoothing of it...easy fix. It's noticeable with the plastic materials.

Also, click each material and apply a good material template instead of the "quick" templates... so choose "Plastic" or choose the metals.

Also, the glass "flash bulb" needs some realistic modeling to render with real materials...

Vue is great with 'faking' the materials. The material editor, and eco systems are my favorite thing about vue.

      Hi Sepo,
It's simple, my wife grew up here. πŸ˜„
We lived in Milwaukee for 8 years, now it's "her turn"... we'll see how it goes here.
The up-side is that if you love spearfishing (which I do) it's great place to live. πŸ˜„

Merci, Pilou, pour la bonne reponse... nous avons essaye de cree Twilight Render avec les nouveaux utilisateurs des engines de rendu, les architects/designers, et les plus avancees, tous en nos pensees...

      svp, excuse mon francais 😳

They are looking good, Earthmover, and at this point it's really an exercise in Photoshop or similar to get the right tone mapping for your image. Night images are always difficult, even with actual real world photography...

Thanks guys, we are confident if people will try it, they will like it. πŸ˜„

There are many video tutorials and a good user manual. For users that are intermediate or advanced in SketchUp who try it, in 30mins or less you will be rendering with Twilight.

again, it will render Proper Animation as well... if I find time, I will do an example... but am swamped at the moment. πŸ˜•

Just downloaded the demo....cooking my first twilight rendering. So far I really like the simplicity of this renderer and that it is fairly seamlessly integrated into SU. the intro price is such that I think I'd be silly not to buy it.

Any plans for future material presets or in general is there a method for adding more material presets easily....I guess I should read the instructions first ...but heck I always just start playing with toys right out of the box before reading the manual..

Hi Phil! Glad you like it. Thank you for the kind words, we worked hard to make it so.

regarding material presets - We felt we covered the bases with Material Templates... there are very few materials I would need as an architect that aren't already in a Template, or easily created by starting with a template, or that isn't already in one of the provided libraries.

Can you tell us what you need/are looking for as far as a missing Template? We will be looking into adding a way to save any tweaks you've made to a template into a custom file you can load again.

      XP Pro

did you allow it to install the .dll libraries as it asks upon installation? if not, this would be the problem. If your XP is not up to date with latest Service Pack, could also be a problem.

... has anyone found a way to animate object assembly/disassembly (not just scenes, but moving objects inside) while at the same having a photo realistic effect like the ones you get for static pictures in kerkythea ?

Twilight Render will render Proper Animation photorealistically in multiple methods of rendering (biased and unbiased methods)

Check it out on the features page for animation in Twilight Render.
      see also this animation rendered.

Now both of those are examples of SketchyPhysics, but it is the same for Proper Animations (I LOVE this Proper Animation plugin)

      Khai,
are you the one who was running an old version of XP INSIDE OF VMWARE on a Mac?
if not, at least give us some specs one what you are running it in... as we've tested this thing for over a year and a splat is very rare indeed. There's obviously something different about your setup than the 'average joe'.
