You need to disable the Face button in the palette. Then you will only paint edges.

this is not my point. I do have the Face button disabled.

my problem is not being able to paint the edges with the color/texture I wish to. if you look at the screen capture below you will see that ThruPaint is stuck with the material I applied to the faces, and I can only paint the edges with that texture. how can choose and apply another color/texture to the edges? in the video I see you chosing a color and applying it to edges.

One more question. can Layers Panel deal with special characters from other languages? in my case, Portuguese is my native tongue and LP is not allowing me to write well in it.

As an example, when I write Proteção it comes out like this: Prote√ß√£o.

Any thoughts on that?

This is weird, could you try to find out in which case it works?
In the meantime, you can also click and drag the mouse to draw a rectangle, just like you would to in SU to select entities.

You need to shift-click on the eye.

now that I am using LP as my main access to layers, I found another glitch which may or may not be caused by some oddity inherent to mac os. but I thought you should know of it anyway.

two things. one is the fact that I cannot select adjacent layers by shift-clicking the top and the bottom ones. it happens once in a long while. in general I have to command-click each layer to get a group selected at once.

the other is that, differently from the native layers window, if have a few layers selected, clicking on the eye to switch them off succeeds in switching only one off, not all of the selected layers as intended. as a result, to do that I revert to native window.

can this be fixed?

I was wondering if there is a way to change the style (color) of the lines inside a component while not altering anything outside it. perhaps there is a plugin that does it.

I have a wall made up of many small elements and when this is viewed from afar all one gets is a black blur because the black edges are too close together.

Because this is bugged in OSX. I've not yet managed to find a workaround.

no problem. it is a minor inconvenience compared to what your plugin offers.

I will pretend I did not read your suggestion to switch to windows...

yep, it worked. no more error messages and I am able to create groups again.

however, I still have an old complaint: LP does not remember where I place its panel: at start it always opens on the same spot on the screen. if the native windows can remember where they were placed last why can't yours?

it is Sketchup 2014.

the messages are like the one you see on top. the odd thing is that after that message there comes another one saying the installation ocurred but if I look up that folder there is no plugin there.

on mac I am not being able to install plugins in any alternative folder. I get error messages and nothing appears in the folder. besides, there seems to be no way for me to determine where should my custom folder be: it comes predetermined.

any thoughts on that?

thanks, kris. I just found them. it was a problem of resetting the Layout prefs and they reappeared.

somehow the scrapbooks that come with Layout have disappeared from my HD. I wonder if anyone could post them here for me.

I am also interested in scrapbooks with trees and the like. anyone has something like that to share?

one other thing that could be improved: the ability to accept characters from other languages, for instance, when I write PRAÇA (square in portuguese) I get what you see in the attached image (layer at bottom). could this be done?

I am still experiencing some difficulties on mac: there is always a missing layer comparing to what the native panel shows. until all the layers appear in your Layers Panel all the time it will be difficult to switch definitely to it.

please, keep up the great work.

LP has a nice feature that allows one to decide whether it opens when Sketchup starts or not. now, could you include something to tell it to open the main dialog at the same spot it was when Sketchup closed for the last time? right now it opens always on the same place of the screen.

this is the point: nothing happens!

two more issues: Layers Panel does not keep the layers in the order I set them originally. why is that? the other is that it does not pick up all my original layers. see the attached image: layers AUX-Pergola and AUX-Pergola 2 are nowhere to be seen, and layer AUX-Pergola 3 is way down below the others with the AUX prefix.
