Hello,
I am the author. I am sorry I rarely stop by this forum. I changed email address so probably everything got lost. Let me know what changes you like and I will probably do them. My main hobby is woodworking. A sub hobby is Sketchup. A sub-sub hobby is ruby scripts. I do have small word documents describing the the use of the tools. And have some updates.
JoelHello,jhoutman
I'm glad to see you back! And thanks for this very helpful plugin! When making boards - say shelf, it would be very handy to use simple expressions - width of the cabinet minus double thickness of the plywood. Also, a drop down list with most used names for the parts - top, bottom, back etc. in the "Input Board" window. Thanks in advance. -
RE: 86 handles
Thanks! I just converted them from 3DS, scaled, cleaned, named, made components and oriented axes properly - all this took me 2 days! If somebody needs the 3ds,max or dwg files with textures - http://home.dibla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=73&Itemid=71

Nice link, but i don't know if it'd be a good idea to do that.

I think we gonna do this? It is just a file conversion to be used by all SketchUP users. I mean if one finds something useful to share it with others as a component.

Tresure
I found this - http://archive3d.net/
Lots of stuff and more important:@unknownuser said:
By downloading 3D model you are agree with:
- This 3D model is provided "as is", entirely at your own risk.
- Archive3D.net doesn't accept any claims regarding quality of 3D model or any standards conformity.
- This model may be used in any commercial way only if it is a part of artwork or project. Single reselling or redistribution of this model is prohibited.
- This model may be freely modificated or elaborated.
Remark: The models are provided in *.3DS and *.GSM formats. The basic ways of use are 3D Visualisation, Interior Design, Architectural Visualisation, Landscape Design, 3D Animation and 3D Art.
So, lets combine and convert them to SketchUP components. Here is one:

86 handles
Okay, it's time to give back. These are 86 cabinet handles with proper orientation, scaling, names, clear thumbnails and proper component axis. They will glue on the cabinet door at the center of the component. Sizes are in millimeters. Cheers!

Do you have a link to any explanatory material? What does this do? Who wrote it? The one you posted is to the code. When I tried it, drill and dado appeared inoperative, probably because I didn't know how to use them.
Dado and drill work on components - when you choose one of them look at the bottom for tool tips.
It is working wonderfully for me and a little bit of improving would be great - to use simple expressions when making shelves, drop down menu with all the names like top, bottom, back and etc.

Req: woodwork.rb
Hi, ruby masters!
I'm using this wonderful plugin woodwork.rb http://forums.sketchucation.com/download/file.php?id=22441
Is there a way to use simple expressions in the dialog boxes and to make a drop down list of most used component names? This script is a huge time saver when working with melamine faced sheeds and any kind of plywood. I already asked the author but he seems is not around for a while.
Thanks in advance. -
RE: [REQ] How to re-paint textures on 3ds files
@pibuz said:
Hi guys!
Sorry to botherI often encounter a very annoying problem: I download some really cute 3ds files, textures included, but it seems like I'm not able to re-texture them correctly inside SU.
The textures are mapped on EACH face that makes up a whatsoever geometry (ie. the tons of triangles which make up a leaf) and so they're somehow fragmented all over the geometry if I substitute the texture to the proper plain colour SU detects.
Is there any way to restore the previous mapping?
thank you very much!
I see your point and one way to fix this is to project the texture onto this bunch of small faces to be even.

RE: [Plugin] Axis components (Updated 6/12/2010)
Yee, i was about to ask for something like this when i saw your plugin!!! Thanks!! Is there a way to position component axes on the edges of the bounding box and the centers of their sides - there is a command in Rhino that makes a bounding box of an object or group of objects that i used for centers of the blocks!

RE: Bad News for Architects in the next ver. of Google Sketchup
This is getting funny - we are talking about others people money after all! You need dwg to serve your clients - so you are making money using SketchUP and want everything for free!!! Stop blaming Google and start asking for free version of AutoCAD with export to .skp! Anybody knows what is the cost to maintain ever changing dwg -
