Excruciatingly perfect, John. Fantastic texturing.

RE: What's your all time favourite advert?
I had one of those Sony Trinitron TVs. Everyone noted how clear the image was. It was still going when I replaced it after 18 years with a Sony flat screen digital.
I can't think of a favorite - I like any commercial that makes me laugh. But according to my Mother when I was a wee young'un I was fond of the Charmin toilet paper commercials with Mr. Wiffle telling his customers not to squeeze the Charmin.

RE: How has your music listening changed over the years...?
How has my music listening changed? Well, as I spent more time in the studio (at school) it occurred to me that not everyone wants to hear lyrics like "I want to f___ you like an animal" by Nine Inch Nails, so I drifted towards less offensive music and now listen to quite a lot of movie soundtracks, especially at work. But in private I still like to turn the sound up on Metallica or House of Pain.
When I was younger, the local pop radio station was de rigueur (it was that, country, or gospel music on the radio). With the advent of satellite radio and ipods, I no longer know what current pop music is. -
RE: Any suggestions to improve this render.
I think I would change the composition. The straight on center shot is kinda dull. Look at it slightly from the left, at an angle (not from the right, the wood fence would block too much). And if you could, add some life to it. And a smidgen more sky above.
It's still a nice rendering, as it is. -
RE: Stair questions. Balluster spacing etc?
"Also, What is the usual set back of the baluster from the front of the rise and the face of the stair carriage?"
Typically, the face of the bottom of the first baluster on a step aligns with the face of the riser and carriage below, as illustrated in the image below (from the WM Coffman Stair Co.). If the change in baluster spacing where the stairs transitions from straight to curved is bothersome to you, you might consider a closed stringer design instead.

RE: BWALL
Looks great, myren8t. I like the rug. Would love to see a night shot with those light bulbs on.

RE: Re: Some Funny Pics.
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's assassination, Senate Republicans sent out the following tweet. I thought the responses where funny, too, so included some of them as well. To quote one respondent, you can't make this stuff up.

RE: SketchUp won't let me upgrade
Sounds like Trimble might have the wrong email address for you, and you need to contact them.

RE: Good book on stairs? Anyone.
CalypsoArt, your profile says you are in Los Angeles and Miami. If this is for a specific location, your stair will need to conform to whatever building codes are in that location. It will also depend on your building's occupancy. For instance, is it a residence, or an office building?

RE: Wooden clock
Seems like everyone wants to touch your wood, Cotty.

Nicely done, sir. -
RE: "False Maria" robot from 1927 silent film "Metropolis"
Rotwang, the robot's inventor, refers to it a maschinenmensch, which translates to "machine-human." A lot of people (myself included) probably find "Maria" easier to remember and pronounce. It's been ages since I saw the film is school - you make me want to see it again.
Are you going to texture it?

RE: First Tricycle
Not what I was expecting when I read the name of the thread. What an interesting subject, and nicely modeled.

RE: Petite Trianon WIP
Looking good there, sketchgirl1. How did you do the reflections?
