From what i understand looking at all the videos of lumion is that to get a good result out of lumion one needs to apply a lot of so called filters! Hence can u call it a true WYSIWYG software?
The filters are built into the software, you can choose to use them or not use them so yes its still WYSIWYG.

RE: SketchUp 2016 is here....
An embarrassingly small new feature set, not sure how they'll justify the upgrade price this time...

RE: Twinmotion 2016
Srx, your image looks good to me. Get the glass to actually reflect the environment and I'd prefer that image
I'm a Lumion user, the one thing that stops me from switching to Twinmotion is that their forums are completely dead, there's basically no community there at all. -
RE: Estimator for SketchUp
@jgbrock1 said:
Not so much a competitor to PlusSpec, because PlusSpec is a complete parametric modeler and estimates items created with it. However, Estimator allows users to assign costs to anything they model, as well as sort via their own cost codes (PlusSpec I believe has their own coding system you have to use, but not sure) in a branded report. I created and own Estimator for SketchUp (and Devin did a great job bringing it to life:) It is simple but powerful tool. We just launched it and hope to have Devin adding new features to reflect users needs.
Thanks for the post, I'll check it out, good luck with it all.

cadmunkey... did you fix you problem with displacement map?
Hi, that was over 4 years ago! I didnt sort it at the time but I know displacement works well in Thea now, but to be honest I never use it anymore.

RE: V-ray / podium
Thea has my vote over Vray too. Much easier learning curve.

Oh yeah, don't worry about subscription!
It'll be a one-time purchase granting you a license valid forever. All the 1.x updates will be free. Then one day if there is a v2, it might be a paid upgrade (or maybe not, we'll see)
Great! Subscriptions are the devils work that always seem to go wrong!

RE: SketchUp to LayOut for Architecture
Nick I sat and watched the whole set of your videos last night. They are an excellent reference and would just like to thank you for sharing them, I picked up quite a few new pointers along the way. Cant wait for your book!

RE: Mountain Retreat
Fantastic view! Some nice scenery around me but you need bottomless pockets to have a house with a view

Very like working with clients. Next time add a wife to the exercise, and you can duke it out in front of him and see how that works.
Haha!! So very true.
Superb design, really like the scheme. I dream of having a large garage like that one day so I can work on my car undercover for a change! -
RE: [Plugin][$] S4u_Frame
I just tried the demo and it does create a solid. Going to purchase now, thanks for the great plugin.

RE: [Plugin][$] S4u_Frame
Does this create solids? (i.e. give a backface to your frames?) The video doesn't show the back.

I tie my software to a computer - however - I offer the ability to reset the account. Then the next computer that runs the software with the user id and password locks to the license. This allows for upgrading / dying motherboards and prevents the user from running it on 2 machines.
The other thing to note is that my software ranges from 20.00 Canadian to 50.00 depending on what you are getting. Also I have a few hundred licensed customers - not upwards of millions.
That's the way to manage licences Garry so I commend you on that.

RE: License has been used on too many computers
I've sent them another email to give them another chance. Their last response was almost like a 'stock' answer and didn't really address my problem of the motherboard dying. This is the problem with this kind of activation licence system, tying it to a machine rather than a user.

RE: License has been used on too many computers
Wow, a bit taken aback with Trimbles 'support'. Was basically told tough and given a link to purchase extra licences!
