@rich o brien said: Either that or we archive this and start again from zero. Hmmm, now that there's the d'oh book out, starting from zero sounds viable to me +1 to Box's comments.

Ta, Bryan. It's funny the things you rediscover when you are packing your house and workshop up. Found these two pre computer concept sketches, just goes to show how similar in style you tend to be whether working in Pixels or Mud. [image: zUW2_Oldies.jpg]

Yeah Dave I have them like that, and I have made rigging points off screen. But it struck me there must be some way of giving each component a specific point without constructing a skeleton off to the side. I just found JointSU, will see if that works.

Thanks Stefan, nice comment, I'm glad you see it that way rather than over coloured. Bryan, my first stumbling attempts at rendering were back in april....it's still all unrepeatable guess work to me. In fact this thread should be in WIP not Gallery. Thanks John, yes it probably would, but for that I think I prefer to have the brush in my hand.

My initial reaction to this glove, Bloody Brilliant. It will take me a while to set it up just right, but it's very simple to adjust. You can have the configuration software open while using SU and simply add or change the various shortcuts you want on the fly. Once you have configured it you can plug it into another computer and it will retain the mapping. The glove itself is very comfortable and I am wearing it as I type this on my normal keyboard. The magnetic connection is both strong and easily disconnected. Ergonomically it is perfect, I have a shoulder injury at the moment that makes certain positions difficult. With this, my hand can sit comfortably on my chair's armrest or on my lap or anywhere I want. It doesn't stop you using normal keyboard shortcuts so you can have your most common on the glove and easily use the less common or number keys etc at any time.. You can program different maps, so you can have an SU one and a gaming one etc etc or even different ones for within SU to match the type of work you are doing. Have yet to find any Cons so far. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's not that cheap but as a drawing tool it will pay for itself quicker than any higher end mouse or keyboard. It only comes as a left hand at the moment, but they say there will be a righty soon. Wireless would be nice, but it's designed for gamers who want millisecond reaction times, a tiny wireless lag wouldn't be an issue for drawing, but such is life.

After changing several PMs with Box we identified the problem that it was with the URLs containing subdomains. The subdomain system is obsolete at SketchUcation since we set up the new site. However after the switchover to the new site we set up redirects for these subdomain URLs but the usage of them is contraindicated. So a link to this topic correctly is: sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=53554 not the old URL what would be: forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=53554 However both works but the usage of the first is recommended as the second one is a redirected URL. Thank you to everybody for their contribution in this topic and the PMs.

Hi folks. See this : http://vision.about.com/od/contactlenses/f/Monovision.htm I am nearsighted (far objects are not in focus) but I can read or see clearly from very close when I wear no glasses or contact lenses. About 15 years ago, my optometrist offered me to try monovision. My dominant eye being the rigth one is fully corrected for distance viewing while my left eye, is undercorrected by a few dioptries. The net result is that, far objects are sharp when seen by my rigth eye and not sharp when seen by my left eye. In reverse, close objects are sharp when seen by my left eye and not sharp when seen by my right eye. The brain can compensate and objects appear sharp at all distances. Well .. after an adaptation period. If I drive a car, for example, the rigth eye does the hard work. If I read, the left eye does the hard work. Surprisingly, I went to see Avatar in 3D and had no problem with the 3D effects, they were present. Also, with this scheme, the closer limit of my rigth eye and the farther limit of my left eye slightly overlap a little and this happens more or less at the normal viewing distance of a computer screen of about 24 inches or 60 centimeters. My optometrist told me that if these limits don't overlap, there is a "hole" or a zone where none of the eyes is seing sharply and this may cause problems. In such cases monovision might not work. Just ideas.

You should try with Curviloft´s skin. Look at the attachment to see how I make it work for your model. Daniel S twoarcs2.skp

Either will do. It depends on how you are going to use the model. Obviously pngs look more realistic for far fewer faces than even low poly geometry. But if you are going to use them as non Face Me elements, like railings or balustrades, then they have to be in a position where they will not be seen edge-on, or so close you can see the pixels. Generally, low poly is the best route. A single one of those corinthian columns is about as high-poly as it's sensible to go if you intend to use an array of them, together with all the other architecture and entourage in a visual. You could always replace one of them with a higher poly version if you were making a render from a position close to its capital. Images are handled by the graphics card, which on a modern system is usually well-suited to the task; so they are not going to tax the cpu any further. This attached model is much larger than the other two but far easier to navigate....as it has less than 200 faces. [image: Edrc_hovel_thumb.jpg] hovel.skp
