      Hello Bob,
I'm not sure i could or have the inclination to explain the process to produce these, it's just one of several techniques I use which I've evolved over the years and can become long winded.

      John,
I am too old (82) and have neither the time nor talent to want to learn the details of your processes for producing these masterpieces. I just have no idea what "hand rendering" even means. I assume you start with an SU model and then, somehow, add the color/texture. That's all I was asking about. Just curious that's all.

I used one of the high contrast black themes from Personalization in the Control Panel

So that affects all programs. Too bad it can't be done within SU.

I like the black background for the toolbars: I agree that black is not very good for the main screen. I use a light orange.

I would love to know more about how these were produced. When you say they are hand tinted (digitally) I have no idea what you mean.
Would be great to learn some more.

      I agree.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Hello Brett, the images are tinted/painted using a Wacom Tablet as opposed to a finished render output from V-ray/Thea ect. I have a nice way of producing watercolour outputs but doubt I'll have time to produce any before I have to go back. .....John

I think a little more clarification other than you use a Wacom Tablet is needed. For example: what software is used to create the watercolor effect? The results you have provided are so outstanding that, unless you feel it is a proprietary workflow, more "tutorial-like" information would be truly appreciated.

Watercolour is like Marmite but IMHO they are better than those ^^^.John

Other than Marmite being a British/New Zealand food product, I have no idea what this means!

    • RE: What happened?

I've needed to render my latest projects in Thea Render and the resulting files are in the 30-50 MB size range (because the requirement was for 12" x 18" at 300dpi). I'd post some, but don't know what the posting size limit is.

Excellent extension. Very similar to sdmitch's "Component_String".

    • RE: Vertex tools

      Great news!

I hope that the ability to select "horizontal" when selecting the "make planar" and select which vertex will be the one that determines the height of the plane. 😎

Similarly, the ability to select a row of vertices and put them into a straight horizontal line with the z-height determined by a specific vertex.

I'm confused: the current version already has that great gizmo. ❓

Sepo, after making the model all grey, right click on a face containing the color you wish to show. Choose Revert color from the menu. πŸ˜‰

This extension, now called Grey Scale, is available at the Extension Store. Is there another, more capable, paid version somewhere?

In my case, I have a modification to a large building, but some of the colors in the modification are also used in the original building and some of the surrounding equipment.

The big problem with this extension is that if the color you are reverting is anywhere else in the part you want to stay grey, it will also revert, ruining the effect of having the part stand out.

Is it possible to have the reversion limited to a selected group without affecting any of the other groups in the model?
Or, maybe it could be limited to affecting only one layer.

Another difficulty I'm having is that I can find no way to revert the entire model.

In addition to the GreyScale Mode there is another option called "Front Face Mode". I couldn't figure out what that does. 😞

LuxRender is and will always remain free software.

      @unknownuser said:

LuxRender is a free and unbiased renderer. The program is the result of the dedication of a loosely knit team of passionate people around the world.

Licensed under the GPL and free for both personal or commercial use. The program runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Fully functional exporters are available for many popular 3D packages.

LuxRender comprises an interactive user interface and exporters for various 3D programs, including Blender, 3ds Max and XSI. Additionally, a command line tool is available. For developers we provide a C/C++ API that allows embedding LuxRender into third-party applications.

More than just a toy or an experimental sandbox, we want to create a robust and high-end production renderer, directly usable by artists, with the tools and features they need.

SU2LUX.rbz is at RC6. There is also a standalone version of LuxRender.

      Never knew that existed ❗

"Access to our technical support resources" would have been useful.

Fortunately, although I was never able to sign in with my Trimble account, I was able to sign in with my Google account and have not had any problem since.
