I'd like it back, but the little down arrow next to the house provides a list of where you've been: I guess that's why they got rid of the back button

    • RE: [Plugin] Modification to PutOnLayer

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Would you believe that I was in the Ruby Forum about to ask if someone could do this very thing!!
Many of my models are very large and have up to 50 layers or more. It was really a chore to first make the layer current and then click on an object and then use Put on Layer. This makes it so much easier.

Just absolutely amazing; I'll be buying this one for sure.

I can't believe how much easier much of my work will become when you release it.

As kannonbal said "I'll be buying this for sure.

      Bravo 😍

    • RE: Having difficulties using putonlayer.rb

This is very useful, but with a lot of layers it becomes difficult to find the correct layer since they appear to be ordered by creation "date".
Can the ruby be changed to automatically alphabetize the layer names?

    • RE: Easy and free Render

I use IDX Renditioner from IMSI: very fast learning curve on both Mac and PC. The Mac version is a bit farther along in capability, but that will change.

Results are not perfect, but very good considering its ease of use. It is an SU plugin.

    • RE: No Materials except Color on Mac

      Jean,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Alas, I don't get what you describe. What I get is a large color wheel with six icons across the top: The trick is that the fourth icon (looks like a brick) reads "Apple" in the little window. It's when you click the little up/down arrows that the whole list of available materials appear! At that point, when you select one of the items in the list, it is as you describe with the left/right arrows, the house and a pull-down list.

Thank you for your help in getting me to investigate more closely. πŸ˜›

    • RE: Sketchup Rendering System

I've been using the Mac trial version of IMSI's IDX Reditioner for about two weeks. For my purposes it is ideal. My job is to create concept models of changes and/or additons to our launch and payload processing facilities at Vandenberg AFB, CA. I have generated complete models of both our payload processing facility and our launch facility. I've said all this to emphasize that the models are very complex (large). Reditioner does an excellent job of rendering the entire models (which include a lot of topography) in about 20-30 minutes at high quality setting. It has taken me a while to get used to manipulating the lighting, but, in the main, it's easy. And the results very good. I then Photoshop them to get the shadows, contrast, etc. fixed the way I want them.
The automatic bump maps are really useful at my level of need.
This is a great product for me since I don't have the time (or need) to master the more sophisticated rendering progams, yet I get very good and FAST results using Reditioner.
My management has been very pleased with the results.
I'm waiting for the PC version before I buy Reditioner, because I prefer to do SketchUp on my PC because it is easier than the Mac version. If the development of the PC version of Reditioner stretches out too much longer I may have to go ahead and buy it (already approved) and develop the model on the PC and open on the Mac to render it. It's worth the trouble! πŸ‘

    • No Materials except Color on Mac

I've been using SketchUp for a long time, but on a PC. Now we've switched to Macs and I have a problem: When I open the Materials window all I get is Colors. Where are all the other materials (concrete, vegetation, etc.)? πŸ˜’

      Gentlemen All,
I've been off working on a proposal and haven't had a chance to check back to the forum until now. 😐

Thank you for the wealth of replies and their content. πŸ‘

On to better results with your suggestions!

      tom,

How do you do what you did? ❓

      1. How do you make a .jpg into a seamless version?
      2. How do you turn the resulting .jpg into a material for SketchUp?
