That worked. I had modified the views somehow, but when I set them back they displayed correctly. Thanks for your help!

How do I turn off hidden geometry?
This is my first crack at Layout and I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere. Please help! When I set up my viewports in layout, the hidden geometry from my contours is showing. It's not showing in my model in sketchup when I click on the same scene. Anyone know how I can get this to turn off in Layout? Thanks!

Multiple push/pull
Does anyone know if you can push/pull more than one face at a time? I have a bunch of faces on one plane that I'd like to pull up all at once. Doing it individually would take hours. I thought I remembered seeing something in the forums that worked, but I can't find it. thanks!

Fossa,
I would not say it's an artistic approximation but more of a primary image limitation, see the images I get from GE have shadows and the shadows are a very instrumental in getting the displacement map accurate.
Just curious, but have you tried using the Micro$oft Live Maps? They seem to have less shadows. Just click on the aerial button to get the image. http://maps.live.com/?mkt=en-us Just a thought.

I got the same "unfortuantely...." notice as well. Did anyone get a congratulations notice?

thanks for the input guys! I'll have to give them a try!

RE: Local Fire Company Engine
You're model is really looking good. As an ex-firefighter I've really enjoyed following it's creation. Keep up the incredible work!

RE: Mitigation uses for SketchUp
Tim,
How exactly do you use SU in mitigation? I guess I'm not familiar with "mitigation" to understand what you would use SU for, but I'd be interested to learn.

RE: Which version of google earth?
Scott, I've been working on a simulation for a project and since our work as to be defensible in court, we have to use the pro versions of all software. Having said that, I've had a heck of a time using sketchup to model a subdivision of homes and then importing it into Google Earth Pro. I even imported the site directly from Google Earth before I started the model. What I've found when I bring the model back into Google Earth is that the front half of the subdivision is buried below the terrain and you can't see it and the back half is floating approximately 12' off the ground. It's frustrating, to say the least, but I'm still trying to find a solution.

RE: Lines in SU Export to GE
I thought of something like that, but the options tab is greyed out when I select kmz as the file type.

RE: Push/Pull results in deleated plane
Thanks Guite, that's exactly what I need. Now to figure out how to place the houses and fences on it...I'll give it a go.
-
RE: Push/Pull results in deleated plane
Well, it was, but now I've got about 1/3 of the houses on the lots with fences drawn. I've also extruded the roads and lots up 6" to give a little bit of base. I need about 6' on the end where the lots disappear.

Lines in SU Export to GE
Is there a way to show the lines of my model when I export it into google earth? Currently it just shows the faces. I'm hoping it's as simple as checking/unchecking some setting...

RE: Push/Pull results in deleated plane
the problem is, it's not an image, it's the actual model. I may have to go in and manually raise the z coordinate of each line, but that might take a REALLY long time and I was hoping to avoid doing that.

RE: Push/Pull results in deleated plane
Thanks for all the help, now here's the next question. How do I drape this uniformly along the terrain from Google earth? We're siting this subdivision and then are going to make a flythough for the client. Basically the skp is flat and I need it to fall uniformly over the terrain. As you can see from the second picture, it does not. Thanks for your help in advance!

RE: Push/Pull results in deleated plane
It's not clear in the pictures that are shown, but basically, when I closed the road area and created the plane, it would sometimes include some of the lots and open space area as well. So I basically had 2 overlaping planes. But I have since corrected it, I had a few stray lines that weren't closed as a result of arcs being imported from AutoCAD that were turned into line segements. Once I got everything closed, the new face on the road is correct.

RE: Push/Pull results in deleated plane
Yes, that's what I found out...the hard way However I found a pretty ease fix. Pull them really high, go to a side view and then erase the sides and tops. At least now I'm back to figuring out how to get rid of the extra plane...Any ideas?

Push/Pull results in deleated plane
I'm working on a site plan with quite a few lots. I've drawn the road and the lots, however the road is curved and since I imported the linework from CAD, the arcs come in as segemented lines. Since some of the lots on the outer edges interstect the road at perpendicular points and some of the lots inside of these are on the radius, I get a plane of the road and the lots. I've tried moving the ends of the lot lines so they intersect with with road and that has worked pretty good. But then I pulled the road up 12" to see which ones I needed to do and then I pushed it back down 12". However, what this did was erase the plane and the outer edge of my curved road. Do you know how I can get this back? I'll try to attach a couple of images.

I don't want to have to do the modelling in AutoCAD.
Why not just model in SU then export the model into AutoCAD. Then in AutoCAD export the .stl file?
