Yes, that's what I found out...the hard way 😡 However I found a pretty ease fix. Pull them really high, go to a side view and then erase the sides and tops. At least now I'm back to figuring out how to get rid of the extra plane...Any ideas?

I don't understand what extra plane you want to get rid of. OK, I understood your problem with the PP-ed road face (and both methods are good for fixing it) but now what extra plane do you have?

It's not clear in the pictures that are shown, but basically, when I closed the road area and created the plane, it would sometimes include some of the lots and open space area as well. So I basically had 2 overlaping planes. But I have since corrected it, I had a few stray lines that weren't closed as a result of arcs being imported from AutoCAD that were turned into line segements. Once I got everything closed, the new face on the road is correct.

Thanks for all the help, now here's the next question. How do I drape this uniformly along the terrain from Google earth? We're siting this subdivision and then are going to make a flythough for the client. Basically the skp is flat and I need it to fall uniformly over the terrain. As you can see from the second picture, it does not. Thanks for your help in advance!

Should work as image overlay . The trick would be to create an image with transparency containing only the lines from your model, no faces.

Maybe there is a way to export image with transparency from SketchUp. I have never done, just did a simple unsuccessful test. You can still export a parallel projection top view image of your model, and edit the image.

the problem is, it's not an image, it's the actual model. I may have to go in and manually raise the z coordinate of each line, but that might take a REALLY long time and I was hoping to avoid doing that.

I don't see any 3D element in the first image above. It appears to me to be just road lines and property lines.

Well, it was, but now I've got about 1/3 of the houses on the lots with fences drawn. I've also extruded the roads and lots up 6" to give a little bit of base. I need about 6' on the end where the lots disappear.

I see. There is a ruby script which lets you drop SU objects onto a terrain. I don't remember the name; maybe that will help. You can let the script drop your house components onto the GE terrain you have already imported into SketchUP. The fences will still be a problem.

If you can make do with just lines indicating property boundaries, then my suggestion will work. Inbetween the last post and this, I did a quick example, see attached. Tilt the view to see how the lines drap over the terrain. I have left some lots faces and coloured it to illustrate possibilities.

PS: The attached file is a .kmz file, rename .zip to .kmz (its not a zip file).

Thanks Guite, that's exactly what I need. Now to figure out how to place the houses and fences on it...I'll give it a go.
