Glad it's not just me. I will try redrawing from scratch.

    • Problem with DXF export in 2019

I have successfully exported non-segmented arcs to DXF for CNC work many times in the past. But now, in 2019 she no work.

This is the method I have always used:
      Set view to Top.
      Set camera to Parallel projection.
      Delete faces leaving only lines.
Export 3D Model as DXF, ACad 14.

Also tried exporting from LO, same result.

      Anyone else seeing this?

Had a very quick play with your model.
I dont use Vray, but Twilight. But these tips apply anyway.
Your model is not very realistic, so grain orientation fixed and impossibly sharp edges softened. Also put your model in a curved stage to eliminate hard shadows. And added some shine and bump to the wood.
Also deleted whole bunch of entities, a sort of studio around the 'badly drawn box'. Vray?

Suggest you watch some YouTube beginner vids.
      Good Luck.

the Skp wont have any render settings, but has my geometry/texture changes.
PS; your model broke on me when I went 'Round corner'. Needs a complete remodel, me thinks. Just trace over the group paying extreme attention to 'xyz' And make a good simple one?

    • RE: Notifications-not.

Hi Gabor. I do mean forum post notifications. Well I received this one!
I use Thunderbird as my client for several E-mail addresses. Including one Gmail.
I have been subscribed, for example, to the 'SubD examples' post from the beginning of the thread. Today on a site visit, I noticed many posts from that thread that wewre not notified.
I have lost track of the many posts that I am following, but I have recieved few, if any, 'forum post notifications'for quite a while.
(I have checked junk and spam filters).
      Cheers, Baz

    • Notifications-not.

Did a search for problem of not receiving notifications. Found some stuff from a few years ago, check spam folder etc.

This has been odd for me, was getting some but not all and they have now tailed off to none.
      Any ideas?

    • RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?

Concerned about how addicated I still am to nicotine...And not sure how much Nic I am actually vaping.
I vape a lot more than I used to smoke.

So just tried a little experiment. I keep a bit of tobacco on hand for rare joints. (Bad back:)

I rolled up a cig from my 16/18Mg tobacco and bugger me, it gave me the spins. Not pleasant.

So I think this tells me 8Mg will be about right. And I am definitely needing less Nic than I used to.

      (4 years this April).

    • RE: First Sketch of 2019

Yes, they do make a lot of sense in certain situations. I made a pair of bedside tables for clients last year from hardwood T&G flooring they had left over. The insides of the carcase was rough as, each board bowed or cupped and too much work to flatten them. So the NL method was just the ticket. A simple matter to fit each drawer bottom nicely, and then fit the sides clear of the carcase.

Thanks, I have been banging away on this issue for a couple days.

Or you could do it all by eye. Artists have been winging it forever.
In fact, 'exact' spacing can often look wrong aesthetically, compare a kerned to an un-kerned font or the margins around a framed picture for example.
I have learned to trust my eye.

It's not that important really, I don't think there are that many people interested in the thread.

2000+ views, but I wonder how many are following? No way to see that info from this side I presume.

Good. And hopefully you recognise that this thread is not meant to be a one on one tutorial.
What I think it is, is Box putting his slightly insane sketchup imagination out there.
And you are bogging him down.

But. About your questions...How about a new post.EG: 'Boxions No1'?
