Hi susan, yeah, ok, fair cop. But it does seem to happen a lot and it defrosts my kelvinator when i see people abusing the fab community we have here.
Have you noticed the odd comment from new users about how different this forum is from most others? From my limited experience with other forums it's certainly true.
Now while Id would'nt like gscf to go the way of pushpull bar, some sort of formal credibility rating might not go amiss.
On the other hand Im getting just like the other old farts that I despise so heartily. So forget all that.
Let it carry it as it does and let entropy take care of those who do not appreciate it.

I think we really need a 'rude bastard' category for people who don't at the very least acknowledge replies, so that other people would know and then choose whether to help them.
whaddya think cornel?

Dave, got it, thanks. Just followed your steps and all is now crystal.
Also, used the 'offset' parameter(for the first time)to make a group of the roundover, saves a bit of time on the clean up.
this maybe a stupid idea, but does your lappie have a separate numerical keypad, if so you may need to turn num lock on/off.
thats all I can think of apart from a new download.
baz
Good stuff dave, thanks.
The answer from you and remus seems to be to simplify the curves especially at small angle or sharp intersections and to separate the various elements and round them individually.
Its not clear to me however what steps you took. Especially how you have the two rounded sections above and away from the rest.
Thanks again guys.
baz
Remus, thanks for that, I think I can see where the confusion came from.

hi.
Ive been having varied success with this ruby and I cant understand why sometimes it works well and othertimes not at all. Sometimes su locks up, or else it does a near perfect job on the selection but erases all the planar faces.
I attach a skippy of the current project, its a moulded poly handle.
Ive tried in desperation stitching the planar faces back together but that proves problematic in itself as some faces just wont close.I'm onto the need to clean up edges and I understand the necessary parameters (I think).
Im also working at 10x scale to see if that helps, I havent tried a larger scale, p'raps that might.
any ideas much appreciated.

I get nervous when I even think about posting on this thread. such a delicate area of operation, DH and samantha for example, and the fact that in all of this su mania and joy, nobody, but ditto has messed with our brains quite like DH. (you still there sam? me never forget you signing up to the forum to give DH a serve.)
Lots of stuff: about not ever seeing a skippy of yours, (does he group?, or does his/her simplest skp need most of the networked super computers in the southern hemisphere to zoom with shadows.
has he/she ever used a pencil and to what purpose? is he/she really as much of a piss head as me?
Howsoever, that last image, too far, you took all the colour out of it, please keep your stimulants to 2 or less during creativity.
baz xx.
ps: id like to share this clock, I did it yesterday when I didnt have to do anything, at all.
Day off, no girl, no work, dog happy to sleep. thinks? what about a bit of su for fun? find clock, sit on desk, and model. And learnt how to use/abuse fredo6's brilliant ruby. round by bezier. bevel, chamfer, bezel, soften, make user friendly, etc.
pps: im on the wrong computer, will have to upload clock later.
DH, I like that last image, although I think the water is too real or maybe not mysterious enough. or perhaps the machine is not real enough, either way, I think that the two elements have to integrate fully or be very disparate. its a bit like in graphic design, if an element is slightly off horizontal it looks like a mistake, it has to be boldly off to make the point.
Also, first image of yours that i can recall without any overt graphics, it works for me.

ps still frustrated that I can't view your work a bit bigger.
You could try making a group from the slice (right click) and intersect with model, then delete unwanted half

I would totally support Google Rulin the world, As it is, Microsoft is doing that(Think how many PCs are running XP and Vista).
One world. My personal os is exactly the same as everyone elses. (idealogy aside). I breathe, I eat, I fart, I laugh.
And If you dont fart, you dont laugh and if you dont laugh, you die.
but gaieus, if you dont subscribe to the latest 'fix' you have to live in fear of the evil ones who wish to make your life even more frustrating.
I feel a "duh" coming on.

avg rules.
Ok, so most of us know that the planet is going down the tube.(we only have the one tube).
But in the meantime, we have to carry on and continue to do our small things, which if not particularly helping, will not make things worse, hopefully.
So why does the most powerful software giant on this planet continue to treat me, the average user, like an idiot.
I just acccepted an automatic upgrade for IE7. I dont need it, I use firefox, but I have to keep abreast of what most of my deluded clients still use.
Anyway, not only did m/soft not tell me how big the d/load was, they also locked my puter until they were happy.
I was not, so I HAD to hard boot. Curse them!
Not Happy!!!!
Is there a 'Craig' at m/soft that one could talk to, me no think so.
C'mon google, take over the planet, I'll be in it.
DH, 300dpi is usually fine for most print jobs, fine art books will usually be 600dpi or more.
Dont forget to convert your image from RGB to CMYK, which is the 'palette' that ink printers use. (find it under image/mode)
It can all get horribly complicated getting stuff print ready, but usually you can just give the original file to the printer and they will sort it. But try to get a look at the colour proofs if you can. There can be, (and usually is), a world of difference between your screen colours and the final print job and im betting that this will be important for you.

zo·co Masculine - Noun - Singular
I get it.
baz, (ambidexterous)
Thanks Juan.
I have avg free, also a licenced version of tune up utilities, its really useful.
I cant find anything called 'windows defender'
Wouldnt removing msn mess with my network settings, file sharing etc?
Whats the story with the 'Zoco"?

I just then wrote a huge rave, and then I must have wrongly touched the very sensitive touch pad the wrong way, cos it deleted it!
