      http://www.psd2cssonline.com/

Looks pretty interesting, says it can create a full website, all the html and css coding from a single psd or gimp file. For $20.00/month, I think I'm gonna give it a try as soon as I get my psd together. Awhile back I also ran into a plug-in for PS, Sitegrinder I think it was, that did the same thing.

    • Virtualdub questions

I might be going around this the wrong way but I've been playing around with some Vray animations. I want to bring the rendered images into Virtualdub (no problem there), compress them with the x264 encoder (no problem there, I think), the reason for using h264 compression is that I'm hoping that the compressed videos are small enough to actually put on my new website I'm working on without embedding them from Vimeo or such and not eating up alot of bandwith. I would like to preview the videos in Quicktime or Windows Media Player before uploading (the problem). I really don't want to install some other player as I've already mucked around my system enough. I downloaded x264 and ffdshows but no matter what settings or combinations I use, I either get an error, Virtualdub crashes, or I get a video that I can't preview in Quicktime or WMP. I've spent the last two days googling but its all so confusing, so many codecs, so many settings, bitrates, wrappers, etc. My plate's pretty full with all this encoding/decoding stuff, still learning Vray, and some html and css coding so I would appreciate any advise or suggestions from the Virtualdub users or anyone else for that matter. This might be a Quicktime issue even though it's suppose to handle h264. I have PS CS3 Extended, I brought my images into Virtualdub, added audio, saved as an uncompressed avi, open it in PS, rendered it to a Quicktime movie with h264 compression, and that didn't play right in Quicktime either, it was all choppy and jerky. Sorry for the long post and TIA.

    • RE: Texture request

      Tig,
Yes I seen those also, I said I couldn't find a usable one. These are all too low res and also only show a small swatch of the actual panel, not very good for making a seamless and tileable texture that's gonna be covering a large area. But thanks for taking the time.

    • Texture request

Does anyone have a texture of Hardipanel Sierra 8 or some sort of T-111 that they can share? Color doesn't matter and it doesn't have to be seamless, I'll take care of that in PS. Google didn't give me any usable results and even the Hardiplank website didn't have anything that was usable.TIA.

I'm sorry to hear that too, I was really looking forward to your furniture pack, I get constant use out of your garden pack and am surprised that more people didn't buy it. I also know about how slow it is, the home improvement field has practicualry came to a halt, the only good thing is that I have some more time to to come to better grips with the apps I use and to try some new ones but that doesn't pay the bills.

Try this one, as per solos suggestion, I packed this one instead of exporting, it automatically zipped it so now I'm wondering what the export feature is exactly used for.

Not sure why, all I did was export it out of my model and then zip it, is there another way? What version of Vray are you using?

Thats actually a vismat that I played with a little, no texture at all, just diffuse colors, reflection layers, refraction layer, and a procedural bump. I can upload it for you if you want.

    • RE: Vray animation

This is a 20Mb model, don't know if thats large but 3/4 of the interior is modeled also including casing, base, kitchen, bathrooms, some lighting and furniture, plus it has a ton of Solos plants, and some large textures like the grass. I used every trick I know, using components, making whole components from 1/4s and 1/2s, deleting unneeded lines and faces, purging, using layers, hiding parts that couldn't be seen in the render areas. The model was quite manageable, the problem I ran into was the amount of time it took Vray to process all the information, even had a few memory allocation crashes. I had 15 scences which I had to break down into 3 scene segments. Afterall with setting up the scenes, some crashes, some experimenting, it took about 40hrs to render on an AMD 2.6 dual core processer with 4gigs of ram. Also had displacement on the stone work, so I imagine that uped the size a little.

Yes, I can't seem to figure out how to embed it. Got it figured out, but its alot crisper before I uploaded it to Vimeo, is there any way to not have the quality degrade so much?

    • Vray animation

Unfortunately I've had some extra time on my hands, so I decided to try to really sink my teeth into Vray. Have been playing with it for awhile but haven't tried to seriously use it till recently. I'm looking for some C&C, especially from the Vray users. Don't know why but it seems to take a bit before it loads. [flash=720,480:1ilbeny7]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=4105243[/flash:1ilbeny7]

    • RE: Sketchup and Flash CS4

It could be a memory issue, I sometimes have trouble when I have sketchup and PS CS3 Extended opened at the same time, they become unresponsive, no error messages but as soon as I close one of them, everything is fine and I have 4gb of ram.

    • RE: How to dim reflection in glass, able to see throught it?

Do not extrude the glass, most rendering engines will produce a better result for glass on a single face with no thickness. Select your glass material in the Vray material editor and change the color in the transparency tab, black for no transparency, white completely transparent, so you can play around with different shades till you get what you like.

mirjman, its pretty quick and easy, open in photoshop, create duplicate layer, on that duplicate layer I applied a radial blur filter twice (set at 100 and zoom),Then set the blending option for both layers to screen.

    • RE: Grahpics card vs. "media accelerator"

This one don't seem too bad but it comes with 64 bit Vista, not sure how well SU runs in a 64 bit OS but I'm sure if you look around, that you could find a comparable model with 32 bit Vista or a downgrade to XP. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9190038&type=product&id=1218052535546

    • Need some c&c

I plan on doing a full exterior and interior animation of this model so all and any c&c is appreciated since I want to make sure everything is right before I start the 8 or 9 days of rendering for the animation. I already know my png plants are horrible, tried making my own but my cutouts weren't that crisp and the colors seem a little desaturated, normally I would just photoshop these in but being that I'm setting this up for animation I figured face me components would be better, so if someone could point me to a package of flowers and shrubs that would be a big help. Now a few questions, what size renders work best for an animation? To all the vray users, is there a way to change the size of the background enviroment and will the background move with the animation or is it better to paste the background in each frame with photoshop (seems like alot of work) or is it better just to set up some billboards? Also what can I change in my glass material, as you can see the windows seem to lose their reflectivity when in the shade? Thanks for all the help.

Jakob, thanks for the reply, I also use the offset filter and clone stamp, just run into problems when theres various shading in a pic, will definitely try the gradient layer.
