Yesterday I also had to choose between updating or closing SU, I didn't even think of working offline, so I updated. Luckily so far I haven't notice any problems but being that this was basically a "forced" upgrade (bad decision), I wonder if myself and other users find this new version problematic, if we can "downgrade" to the previous version?

    • RE: Webex Demo: Teaching SketchUp through the NET

Susan, I don't know about the file sharing as I was e-mailed a practice project that we used for the online training sessions. But I was able to see the instructors screen (his project) so that I could follow along and also he was able to remote controll my mouse and make changes on my screen (my project) when needed. The speed seemed good as there didn't seem to be any lag time although we were only states apart and not oceans. Also as far as the voice connection, it was just like a conference call, I took several 3hr classes and didn't really notice any big increase in my phone bill so maybe that depends on what kind of long distance calling plan that you have. There also was a online chat feature, but we didn't use it because I imagine it would have been difficult to work in the program and to try and type questions and wait for replys. Over all, I was pleased with the sessions and as I mentioned before the go-to-meeting software seemed to work very well. Also I don't know if a webcam option is available since I don't own one. I believe that they have a 30 day trail that you could try.

Susan, don't know if you looked into "go to meeting", I've taken a couple of cad classes where the instructor used this and it worked very well. https://www1.gotomeeting.com/t/gg/gotomeeting-ext/g2msem3?Portal=www.gotomeeting.com&Target=m/g2msem3.tmpl

TIG, the latest version seems to work alot better, only problem I'm having is with the gable roofs, they all seem to come up a little short. Keep up the good work. Thanks again for a great script.

    • RE: Roof.rb v1

TIG, I can get all four roofs to work some of the time, pretty much hit or miss, even tried a rectangle on the floor as you suggested to davekn, it seems to work better when I try to put a roof over a square instead of a rectangle, works pretty much all of the time, so I'm guessing that you are correct in thinking of some rectangle tolerance method. Still a great script though, thanks.

TIG, this is a great looking script, unfornuately it also isn't working for me, I select a face, get the first dialog box, hit ok and get nothing, no errors, no roof, no second dialog box. I'm running Vista and SU Pro 6.0.515, hope you can get it figured out because like I said, it looks like a great script.

If you export your 3D model in 3ds, you can select what you want exported, then under export options select single object and whatever was selected will be the only thing exported.

    • RE: Textures

Thanks for the reply Jean-Franco, I understand what you did, you applied your textures one face at a time to your group, what I did was just "paint" the whole group at once, then when I tried to rotate the texture on just one face of the group I couldn't without exploding it. Niether option seems to be a good one, either apply textures to each indiviual face in a group or explode groups that were painted at once to position texture on the faces that need it and regroup, both can be very tedious in a large group.

    • RE: Textures

That is exactly what I'm talking about, I'm rotating some wood grains. I can right click a component>edit component>texture>position, however with a group I don't have this option, have to explode to get the texture option, then have to make it a group again after rotating my texture. Is there a easier way?

    • Textures

Am I missing something ? I don't apply any textures to my model till it's complete however then when I want to position a texture I have to explode my group or component in the model, then I have to make it a group again which means now I also have to rename it in the outliner, this tends to be very tedious. Is there another way or should I apply textures as I model? It would be nice to have a rotate option when editing textures.

Andrew, make sure to first select (highlight) the circle, then go to edit.

Andrew, to get the center point of a circle, highlight it, then go to Edit>Circle>Point at center.

    • RE: Hi All I'm New..but need some help....

Hi, I'm using the latest release of SU, 6.0.1099, Kris pointed you to the update, also Nvidia driver before current release, with Vista Home Premium and everything works fine so there is hope, I think as long as you have current Nvidia drivers and latest release of SU, you should be fine.
