    • Offset Face & Paint or Offset Face and Push script

      All,

I do not know how to create ruby scripts but I'm willing to try to help automate a task. Or, if you know any tools to help do this quickly, your help is appreciated.

I'm in dire need of creating MANY instances in a model that would quickly generate the following actions:

      1-Open Component
      2-Select outside face
      3-Offset distance
4-Paint offset face certain material or push offset face certain distance
      5-Close Component
      5-Paint Component certain material

    • RE: Help! Need send line to face or Divide face array

divide.PNGOk, so for those who need to do this in the future, my best solution is as such.

Install two extension. 1 = 1001 points 2 = CLF Vertical Line tool

Use 1001 points to divide edge by a given length. It will place a construction point at those division. Then, use CLF line tool and define line height and pick the construction points as you go around. This is the fastest I could do it. 1 floor took about 5 minutes. Not bad.

    • RE: Help! Need send line to face or Divide face array

The horizontal lines are not the issue, but I think that same workflow could do for vertical mullions. I will just need to create lots of vertical faces.

My next problem will be when I actually have to model the mullions and place them in the same locations as the lines. Does anyone know of a tool that can generate mullions or extrusions using the line as a center point and the line length as the extrusion length?

    • Help! Need send line to face or Divide face array

divide face.PNGFor god sake I hope someone can help me. I have a very complex building form that I need to articulate with mullion lines at approximately 5' on center. I can't for the life of me find an extension that will allow me to do this operation quickly, The closest I get so far is Thom Thoms edge tools>divide face, but that goes one at a time. Every floor is different on this building and I would spend hours doing them one at a time. Can anyone help?

    • RE: Photomatching Issue

Has anyone had any success in figuring out how to fix this issue with VRAY and SU 2015? I have used photo match to setup multiple camera views.

    • RE: 3ds/obj import into SU 2015

FYI, I got it sorted out. I think it has something to do with the z and y axis being flipped. My solution, was to download a trial of Atlantis, imported the obj with textures, then exported it again as an obj to a different folder. Then imported the obj using sim lab into sketchup and it worked like a charm. Hefty file indeed, it is the city of Seattle after all. Thanks for your help.

    • RE: 3ds/obj import into SU 2015

Thanks for checking it out. The textures need to be extracted in the same folder as the obj, and then they come in. I got the model in just fine, like how you show. I've tried multiple file formats now, and still have the same problems with textures misaligned. I know it works fine in 3ds max, so I'm puzzled why it's not working for SU.

    • RE: 3ds/obj import into SU 2015

It appears the file is already an editable mesh, unless I'm missing something. Would love it if anyone could take a look to see if I'm missing something. Use the link below to download the .obj and corresponding texture maps.

I believe it is all triangulated after importing. Are you saying I should open in max and triangulate first?

    • 3ds/obj import into SU 2015

All, I have a file the is a native 3ds/obj that I would like to import into sketchup. It is a large file and it has 219 JPEG textures that use uv mapping. I can get the geometry to import correctly, but the materials are not coming in correctly. They are misaligned. Does anyone have experience with 3ds imports and how to resolve the texture mapping issues?

    • RE: [Plugin] Import OBJ with Materials v2.1 20131118

Will this plugin work with SU2015? I have a large .obj with 219 different UV textures, and so far this hasn't worked (fails to import). Or do I need to be using 2013 in order for the importing and mapping to work appropriately? I get this file to import correctly using SimLab's plugin, but the materials are all wonky because the mapping is incorrect. Any help would be appreciated.
