@unknownuser said: Any reason why you're still using v6? Jeff Thanks for the nudge. Due to recessionary cash-flow cessation I was trying to get by with SU6, since I don't use it often. But I was having so many challenges, your question caused me to throw caution to the wind and take the plunge. If I drown in debt, it's all your fault. SU8 does seem to be somewhat faster, but I just had another Select-Tool-fail event. SU is not autosaving in the background, and the CPU is not busy. It acts like the selection "call" gets stuck in a traffic jam from SU to the OS. Eventually, the jam clears, and the intended selection is highlighted or deselected. Other tools work OK, and I can minimize the page. Other programs don't have this problem. I'm just throwing this out to see if it's operator/hardware at fault, or some glitch in SU. For now, all I can do is find something else to work on until I get control of the clicker again.

Would it be a geolocated model for GE? In that case you can also upload the kmz file from the web interface.

i dunno, kerky on mac is pretty gross. you know you have to have X11 installed for it to work, right? it's a great example of a bad port. i guess if you're used to using windows then you won't mind it.

Never mind on this one, I just noticed that version 8 is out so I'll upgrade and reloading should fix the problem. Thanks all the same! Scott

See the cutaway exterior wall. It was drawn with the freehand pencil tool. Additionally make a few small rock components that you can scatter across the top of wall, at the base of walls and randomly on the ground near the walls. [image: lzIm_bath_preview_sm.jpg]

**Here is what I do! (AutoCAD required). Export your model in 3D DXF/DWG, import into AutoCAD then flatten your model in AutoCAD by using “Flatshot” this will let your geometry stay 'true-circle’ and not collapse to segments. Enjoy! Vigy.** [image: ewDY_Capture3Dto2D.PNG]

I guess I could improve the manner I try to make a point. Suppose we have the stringer above. The stringer is made of repeated segments when scaled along the red axis. Is it possible to scale the component on the green axes so that the stringer repeats horizontally every 16 inches? The goal is to have a deck stair that satisfies variable height and width. Therefore, you can have, for example 13 steps vertically and 5 stringers horizontally (making it a 60" wide staircase). In the example above, in order to get the second copy of the stringer scale, I had to rename it. But renaming it, disables the ability to scale the staircase on the green axis. There is no way I bash sketchup, especially as I am as green as it can be, and have limited time to give to learning it. Certainly, as far as dc are concerned, there is very few documentation that goes beyond the basics which is a shame.

Did you minimize the SU window while having the terrain selected? ...yea - it's an odd little wicked SU bug...

Not the expert on this, but it's simple to make a SU plugin that can run other programs, read, and write externally files. SU can communicate with the outside world in this way. There are probably more sophisticated ways that others might be able to point out.

if they are the same rhing I did in jr high 16 000 years ago, they are little cars that have a hole bored in the back to receive a CO2 pellet (the kind used in a pellet gun or something). The starter is a gadget that pops a hole in 2 cars' cartridges at once and the gas pushes the little cars along a string or track. It's pretty fun.

Why not draw the lines across the top as you show in your second image and then use Push/Pull to push the angled portion down to eliminate it? That will leave you with the faces on the ends of the remaining walls. You could also draw the cut lines on the bottom of the walls and simply erase the edges in between. No plugin needed for either method.

I had given up on the idea of showing internal illumination of an LED-TV screen on the shaded side of the building. But I just discovered a glitch that looks like internal illumination. The first image is the normal image with two signboards. The second is what happened while I was playing with the UTC setting for time of day. The rendering would stop with everything dark except the screen facing the sun. Then after a few random clicks, it would render properly. I don't have any idea what's going on here. But maybe someone can figure out how to take advantage of this anomaly to simulate internal lighting for an object in shade. Yeah, there is lots of info scattered around here about it. Its hard to give a specific answer to a general question. So if you browse around, you can read up the various renderers and other plugins. OR if you have more specific questions about things, its a little easier to provide accurate responses. But you definitely came to the right place for anything SketchUp related. Have you been using the software long? Are you looking just for rendering plugins, or are you wanting geometry making plugins, and general workflow enhancement plugins type things? Chris
