Hm... you're right. I've never noticed that before. I always use the keyboard shortcuts. (which I've also mapped to the extra two buttons on my mouse) Wonder why they've disabled the context menu. It's something that always annoys me with applications is when they break standard UI behaviour.

ok, so I want to create an onclick random zig-zagging line. So each line is a component inside a larger component. The first line has a random number for rotation (randbetween(-3,3). For the next line to be placed at the end of first one after the rotation I need to reference the value of the randbetween. But when I do this it reference the code instead of the value so I get a completely different number where I want the end value. I tried the set("attribute"randbetween(x,y) but I either didn't put it in the right place or it's not the right thing to do. Can someone help?

Hi All, the help center language bug should be fixed for the maintenance release which will be released hopefully soon. The Generate report 404 error, is something I am pushing hard to be in that release as well, and we might have a temporary fix even before then. Thomthom asked: "But what happens when a user often change between being connected and not connected to the internet? A laptop user that moves around often for instance. When you are connected you get one type of report which is different from when you're offline and there doesn't seem to be any indicator to why, leading to potential confusion." This is an excellent question. The two reports are at this point in time identical so there should be no confusion, if we decide to add functionality to the online one, we will have to make clear to users why the Generate Reports might appear different. And which one they are currently using. Thanks for all your feedback, and rest assured I am working on this and I hope we will have a solution soon. Simone.

Ah! Well. It's a mini-bonanza for all the non-Podium users. They are very nice cutouts, Stu. The South Pacific and UK disks look excellent too. I remember you mentioning the S. Pacific one on another thread.

The first thing to do is install the latest drivers and see if that helps, often out dated (or the wrong) drivers can cause lots of problems. As for a graphics card list, have a look here: http://groups.google.com/group/SketchUp/web/graphics-card-feedback?hl=en

@unknownuser said: @wo3dan said: Is there a correct way for SU to handle flipped components with rotations in DC attributes, better than my (miserable) workaround? Unfortunately, no. Rotations completely reset the current transformation before applying new ones, so it destroys your flip status. This bug has been recorded for a future fix. So the only workaround is to create a new component where the geometry (or a subcomponent) is flipped. I have run into this quote often, its very frustrating. If I could have negative rotations, I could have much lighter models for the stuff that I am doing.

Im having the same problem.... for some reason su 7 just really sucks compared to 6, glitches and splats everywhere. I have to toggle between projected and regular model space just to work on the stupid thing half the time. Mabee has something to do with the free version? I had to reformat my harddrive and I lost all my pro student versions....

Thanks Hazza. It makes sense. I thought you were refering to condensation together with moved dust particles by the "air-"flow.

Scott, Nice to hear from 'the source'. I have been involved with a large number of Kitchen manufacturers and their customers for some time, and attitudes in the 'commercial sector' never cease to surprise me. The problem is that a lot of the manufacturers have no in-house software expertise, have little IT savy and are not interested in spending money with 3rd parties to 'help' the retailer sell their products, they expect the retailer to find the resources to promote/sell. This has made it possible for other software providers to make money from two avenues - the sale of their software and the sale of catalogues of particular manufacturers products. And these are not cheap. From my experience I think that there is a vast potential for Sketchup in this market (as well as other similar markets), but to exploit it would involve investing time (and hence capital) in developing the necessary tools (such as libraries of components correctly configured). With no potential for software revenue, the only way to recoup this capital investment would be for the library developer to charge either manufacturers (unlikely) or their customers a nominal fee for the libraries, but with no real 'protection' system available for them to prevent the libraries being freely passed around - there would be few, if any, people prepared to do it. This is a shame, because for the sake of an optional facility for the 'locking' of access to DC attributes everyone loses out - the retailer, the manufacturer and Sketchup. But I guess the addition of such a feature is no trivial matter. With regard to the amount of detail in the DC, the two main markets for a 'planning system' are. The large national/international Manufacturers, The small self build studios. The large cabinet manufacturers would not be interested in having a high level of detail (such as drilling positions etc) as they have their own in-house production systems for taking orders through the manufacturing process. They are not even interested in recieving drawings from the retailer (in most cases). What they are interested in is having an electronic order listing the codes of their products. Their retailers are also not interested in the assembly detail, what they need is a realistic accurately sized model (usually fixed sizes as manufaturers in the main only make fixed sizes) that allows them to accurately lay out the plan that looks good to impress the customer. They also need a quick and easy way of 'costing' out the layout to quote the customer, and also list their costs to monitor the profit. (Having the 'cost' prices in the DC to facilitate the latter is another reason for reluctance to share them freely in the market). Finally they want an order for the manufacturer. The small self build studios are a different market with different needs. They want the flexibility of parametric re-sizing of cabinets to suit the customers room layout (now possible with DC), they would want cutting lists if they make their own cabinets as opposed to buying them in, and they may also want a much higher level of detail for manufacture (such as shelf and door hole positions etc.) Over the next few weeks, for my own purposes, I will be intially looking at ways to use Sketchup to offer solutions in the latter of these two markets which will include specially targeted training material as a large part of this market has little or no 'CAD' experience.

Its a subscription site. You pay a monthly fee to be able to download the components/rubies/materials/styles and use them. Chris EDIT: Oh yes, they also seem to have an exchange site where you can upload a model and download other peoples models for free.

It works! Of course.. But not with my current project... Did a new simple scene and "save as 6" and it worked fine. Could open the file in SU version 6. Sometime my file got corrupted. Funny its only in the backwardsconversion Im having difficulties with the model. Works with Kerky for ex. I work on the model and if I come up with a new idea I save it with a different name "save as". is that a bad workflow? Should one copy and paste in new SU window? Shouldent make any difference in my logic. Anyway. It is (probably) not a bug then.

What could be akward about imperial units? We measure inches down to the 1/64, 12 inches in a feet, 3 feet in a yard, a lot of yards in a mile. Even more feet in a mile. Then theres also a lot of square feet in an acre, and a certain amount of acres in a square mile. And sometimes someone talks about hectares and I'm not sure if those are metric or imperial. See, its just that easy. I honestly google imperial unit definitions regularly when I have to go larger than feet and inches, and I have used the system my whole life. It could be worse though, it could be based on some ligical system of 10's or something..... Chris
